Sauropod dinosaur fossil found in Adilabad ll BM Birla science museum Dinosaurium ll

A well-preserved dinosaur fossil, Kotasaurus Yamanpalliensis, was found in the Yamanpalli region of Adilabad district, Telangana:
Discovery
The Geological Survey of India (GSI) excavated the fossil between 1974 and 1982.
Features
The Kotasaurus is a large sauropod dinosaur with slender bones that dates back to the lower Jurassic age. It is estimated to be about 160 million years old.
Size
The composite skeleton of the Kotasaurus is nearly 14 meters long and 4.5 meters tall. Significance The Kotasaurus is one of the earliest known species of sauropod dinosaurs and is part of the Lower Jurassic Kota Formation. It is also a significant contributor to the history of the break-up of Gondwanaland.
Location
The composite skeleton is on display at the B.M. Birla Science Centre in Hyderabad.
Other fossils found in the Adilabad district include: Snails, oysters, leaves, plant parts, and microscopic fossils in the Sitagondi forest
