Have one in .308. Thing shoots better than most rifles twice the price. No Remington, no Ruger, no Howa, yes to Savage.

Glad to hear it, keep us informed on what ammo it likes. Try a few brands if you will be shooting factory ammo. I have not had much time at all with mine. But it seams to shoot well with Hornady Superformance. I've only taking it to the range for one session to sight in the factory bore sight on the scope. It could not have been bore sighted at the factory. It shot two feet right and off the target at 50 yards. Someone fell asleep on the job. Congratulations 👏

@Love the Hunt I'm going to try that and compare the ammo. What's great about the 308 it's a very versatile round. Im in texas and hunt the Sam houston forest im thinking to go with a heavier bullet. Or something in between. I'm still so green at this but from what I hear. Heavier bullets can cut through brush well..

Nice rifle. 6.5 creedmoor not bad. I took down a white tail with it before. And it tore the shit out of the deer took it down with no problem. I like creedmoor because it's soft shooting and really accurate

Just got the same gun. Mine is a 308win my box says it's a law enforcement edition. It has the crossfire ii 3-9x40.

I just bought the same rifle 3 weeks ago. Box says Crossfire 2 but mine also has the diamondback scope. Academys website has it listed with the crossfire 2 also. Don't know why they have diamondbacks but I'm not complaining

I got this gun in .308 about 3 months ago and I also had a Diamondback scope on it. I was wondering why because you can't find any marketed with a Diamondback. I am wondering if Vortex had a production issue so they temporarily swapped the scopes or maybe it was a promotional deal with the first gun they sent to each store. The clerk did say it was the very first one that came in when I had bought.

If I'm not mistaken .. I have this same rifle in 308.. the rifle and scope combo is exclusive to academy only.. I switched out the diamondback to a 5x25x56 venom, if your looking for a good round .. the hornady black 168gr A-max and the 178gr percision hunter ELD-X

I think it's really cool too. I like the pattern and that it's different and it would blend into shadows. I think that its more of a snowy camo when you sitting in the trees

I want this so bad! Cheap, but looks way better than the hunter with just the black stock and black barrel. The Apex Storm is nice, the stainless barrel makes it look better, but $60-80 better? Not when this baby RIGHT NOW a week before opening day of Rifle season is $599.99 and in .308 which is what i wanted anyway. So what's the problem right? This is an Academy Exclusive-- closest Academy Store is -?- Virginia, so 1000 miles or so. I hate that Savage does that sh*t- makes a new model or adds something to an existing model or package but makes it "exclusive" to Cabela's/Bass Pro shops, Or The Academy + Outdoors, Any other corporate owned place-- even Walmart... Efffed up thing- I live in NH in the Massachusetts Border -- Savages are made an hour from here... Anyone know of a way to buy direct or from another source -- PLEASE please let me know?? I'd appreciate it more than you can imagine.

I believe it's a safety that will not allow it to go off in the upright position. Works perfectly in any other positioning.

It’s an accutrigger (Lets you adjust trigger pull). It’s pretty nice to have and easy to adjust. Comes with little wrench just for it with yellow cap on it. I just got the .308 model. Love it.

Is the barrel medium heavy or heavy or a pencil one?

You know I've searched the website and I cannot find the answer to that. I would say it is a medium heavy barrel that is fluted. Most of the weight is in the front of this rifle. If you put your hand directly underneath action it will balance in your hand. If you add any kind of muzzle break on the end it tips forward when holding it in that position. The website states that it is 8 lb with the scope on it. I have a thick leather sling on mine and I swear to you it was 10 lb that's my only complaint. So far with Hornady superformance is very accurate at 100 yards.

Sorry I missed your comment, I really cannot say with certainty the only time I went to the range with it I was getting the scope on the target it was so far off it was ridiculous. I shot until I was centered but didn't really shoot groups. It seemed quite accurate and the vortex diamondback was tracking pretty well. Just like they slapped a scope on there at the factory it was a foot in the quarter off from the center. Plus the barrel was absolutely filthy I guess it was where they shot the rifle at the factory. Its the first rifle I ever bought new with the barrel full of gunpowder. I said WTH when I looked through it, come on Savage.

How is the stock? Is it their accu stock?

No, I do not believe it is. The stock is decent but I've not taken it off the action to investigate how it is bedded. I'll be interested to see and may make a video at that time.
