Great video and I don't in any way mean to be disrespectful, but based on my own knowledge and experience I believe that you are incorrect about the accuracy and lack of use of FFP ("Front" or "First" Focal Plane) scopes in the military. I assume that you know who people like Todd Hodnett, Travis Haley and Jerry Miculik are-- they all recommend and use FFP and have explained why. If per chance you haven't seen any of Todd's videos, or read his great articles, check them out. At least I have learned a lot from him. His knowledge base and experience is immense and some of it is so advanced, it is classified. Thankfully, he is able to share a lot of great knowledge. People like Travis Haley, Jerry Miculik, Travis Haley (and many others, I apologize for not naming here) are at the pinnacle of what they do, and have integrated multiple key disciplines into their shooting art form and science. However, it costs more to have an equally good (optically and mechanically), turret-accurate FFP verses a SFP-- but that is true when comparing a fixed power to a variable SFP as well. Want the best optics at a given price point, you get a fixed power (i.e. neither FFP nor SCP per se). Want a great benchrest scope for the money for fixed/known distance shooting, get a SFP. If you want a top tactical scope that enables you to dynamically range and verify in the field at variable and/or unknown distances, get a FFP (there are other advantages to a FFP as well). Even if you have a range appropriate rangefinder and the conditions support its use that day, a FFP with a good HORUS or other good FFP reticle takes a LOT of the guesswork out of your shooting. However, reticle choice is possibly even more critical with FFP, as the wrong one will make precision benchrest more difficult than a good SFP scope, since the subtensions and related elements could potentially obstruct. Also, in addition to the Beast, Nightforce does make several other FFP scopes, such as the F1 series. Even March makes FFP scopes, as do virtually every top glass maker. BTW, great video and loading assessment. After much experimentation, I found a beautiful node point for 300gn that routinely provides sub-4's (0.4 MOA) and depending on conditions, 2's and 3's, at 600 yards. What a gun for the money. Can use a little aftermarket consideration as you noted, but I mean come-on, for the price-- wow. (AMDAI2015)

Nice video. Question. Would the nighttforce 34mm unimount 1.44 inch work with this set up? Seems like it would be a little high off the barrel.
@cirionrc11 жыл бұрын
No the 6 screw rings is just like 2/8 of an inch from the barrel and just alittle over an 1/8" from the rail. Just about as low as I can get. Hasn't deviated from zero yet. Like these rings...bought another set for my .308 with NF NXS.

Thanks for the review on the scope on this gun. You made my decision easy. Since then did you install the A210 rings? how they work? and wondering what your zero is set at?
@jamespfleeger26516 жыл бұрын
how confident are you about the medium rings with the 50mm objective? I have the same gun in 308 and am struggling to figure out which nightforce rings will work.

I hope you can help me with this please: the rail is parallel to the barrel, does not have a cant providing some MOA adjustment. I place my SB scope on identical hight rings, and I am off by a lot (need 50 MOA of elevation adjustment to get to zero at 100 y). How did you solve this problem or what did I do wrong? Thank you.

Look for a one piece mount with moa built in, several outfits offer these, check with Seekins for a start, they mount direct to the rail, 20 moa is common, 30 is around but none I know of are higher.

If you are looking for a slanted rail for Magpul PRS2-G/ Savage BA110 stock for a monopod, I found one after countless hours of searching and calling around. It's made by sage international out of Oscoda, MI. Do a search and call them. I spoke to tammy which was a huge help. Hope this helps and saves somebody the headache that I went through.

I thin you spent far too long explaining your personal adds like your optic. If the video is a review of the weapon system you should only be briefly introducing those additions. I think you spent a good part of 5 mins discussing glass and variations, rounds and self loading. Need to shorten it up to get to the point in my personal opinion I fast forwarded most of this video to get the gist then watched the other parts so I could try to help you out to make the video more viewer friendly.
