I put pillars in mine. The Boyds stock is too soft to get a good torque without crushing or splitting it. I have a Ruger American Predator so the mounting was different. I had to put on a metal trigger guard and magazine tab as well.

Pillars may be next. Thanks for the suggestions!

hmmm..makes me wonder if a scope base is loose or something. Not bad groups but kinda erratic, I agree. Good luck, I'll be curious to see how this all plays out.

All stocks come at about 97% inletted. That last 3% means the world of difference. Get some stock inletting ink and a chisel watch this video How to Inlet a Semi-Inletted Rifle Stock Presented by Larry Potterfield | MidwayUSA Gunsmithing Do this next time before you bed a rifle.

You thought using pillars as well? As said the Boyd’s material is really soft. One thing to note, savage rear tang actions like to be floated from the stock. Easy way to do so, is to place painters tape under it as you bed the action. Lastly, verify your barrel is free floating. I like to tape the barrel to get the spacing I want to the stock. I like the video and some good information.

I enjoy watching your videos. You come across as just a regular guy, who loves to shoot, work on his guns, and does his best to develop accurate loads. I have never bedded a stock, so I cannot offer any help on your issues. That said if it were I, I would take the rifle to a gunsmith who does stock work/bedding and ask for their opinion and suggestions.

Thank you for the kind words! You about summed me up😁. I like to share what I do in case it can be helpful to others. I just took this gun back out for further testing yesterday with handloads this time and it seems to be shooting as good or better than it did with the factory stock. I will post an update video next weekend. Thanks for watching!

I have a Savage XP in .22-250 which is very similar to this rifle. I also have this exact same stock on it. (also bedded.) I am having real good groups using 53 gr V-max's and 38.7 grains of H-380. Might be worth a try in yours.

Good suggested load. I just had mine out again yesterday. Almost updated the video, but decided I’ll do another update next weekend. I shot 52 gr. Sierras with H380 and got some good groups.

That’s an honest real world vid.

I like that stock. I have the same rifle and am considering a stock like yours. Can it be shot left handed? Can’t tell from the vid.
@dgunnut65505 жыл бұрын
It’s not biased for right hand so it should work good left handed as well.
