I picked up a 93 FV 22WMR a couple of years ago ... the accuracy at 100 yds. with a wide variety of 40-gr. exceeds my expectation. I consistently see .50-.75" 5-shot groups off a two point bench. The adjustable trigger is sweet ... the magazine is awkward but functional. It's a lot of out-of-box rimfire value.

I totally agree. I need to take it out on a nice calm day soon. Thanks for watching!

Good review I bought an 22” all black American 22WMR a few years ago on sale for 199 at Cabela’s. First time do the range I shot all the ballistic tip type ammo I had. The Hornady Vmax shot a six shot group at 100 yards that measured . 323! With the Winchester 2250 fps varmint ammo i shot a six shot group of .698”! Great accurate gun. The only thing I don’t like is the bolt will open if caught on brush or bumped on my body while carrying and walking. No feeding or cycling issues. It will start sticking brass in the chamber after a box or two of ammo is shot. Just have to clean the chamber and it’s back to kicking out brass just fine. I’d tell you to trade it in on an American. It uses the same 10/22 style magaine that's been proven to feed and cycle. When I first bought it I did have a bunch of FTFs. I took the bolt apart. It had a loose piece of metal floating in thick blacl grease. I cleaned it all out. The bolt parts had a lot of ruff jagged cuts from tooling. I polished and sanded all the parts and reassembled. The vmax now are 100% reliable. Zero FTFs after about 8 boxes through it. The winchesters had faulty primers. Winchester confirmed it after I sent them back for testing. I tried all the ammo you did. All ammo grouped under an inch at 100 yards. Think I just got a good gun. My buddy has the exact same model as mine and it shoots just as good.

Thank you for the positive feedback. I do like the gun. On a calmer day, I have no doubt that less than 1” groups at 100 will be the norm. Hopefully things will smooth out like you said, after some breaking in. Thank you for your input too.

I just put one less round in the mag for my 5 rounders and 10 rounders. And I do something (perhaps a bad habit I have formed over the years), I push the bolt forward with my thumb. This is a habit I formed when shooting a dismal .22LR from Bikal decades ago, and do out of habit with all rimfire bolt actions.

I’ll try the one less round trick. It does slowly seem to be getting better as it gets worn in. Thanks!

Waiting for my Savage 93 FVSS but with my 93 F I am shooting 1/2" to 3/4" five shot groups at 35 yd. so hopping to do better with the 93FVSS As soon as the weather gets better will be moving my range back to 50 yds. I am limited to 65 yd. so joining a shooting club to get out and snoot some longer ranges. thanks for the Video. As for the mag release just put in a 10 round mag and will solve the problem of the release getting cough on any thing.

I’ve had the 93F for about 5 years now, vortex 2-7 rimfire on it. It is a Jack rabbit killing machine. Since I’m in CA (lead free requires for hunting) I lucked out that mine loves the 30grn CCI green. I’ve heard a lot of them like that bullet, you may wanna give it a try. My magazine and many are the same. If you just put some upward pressure on the mag while sending the bolt home they will all feed, kinda annoying for sure. Great video and nice rifle. I get 2300fps with the CCI green.

Thank you. Just out of curiosity, how do you feel about the performance of copper ammo in general as it relates to performance on game? I am inclined to move in the direction of copper for hunting if I can get good performance in the expansion category. I just have my doubts.

So I use lead free 17HMR (green) 22 mag (CCI green) 15.5grn NTX .17 cal in 17 Hornet and Barnes TTSX 80grn for coyote. With the rimfire magnums and centerfire Hornet they are absolutely explosive, lights out accuracy and performance. I do a lot of predator calling and have really liked the 80grn Barnes TTSX out of my 25-06 at 3600fps. It is by no means a traditional varmint bullet, it does not break up on impact. They are very high quality, accurate HEAVY made bullets designed for deep penetration. I could easily kill a southern CA deer with the 80grn Barnes. They are very high quality bullets, think almost like the Nosler partition designed to drive in deep. With my 22-250 and 223 I shoot a lead free Nosler ballistic tip varmint bullet. These are like your more traditional Hornady Vmax, copper jacket and very explosive, no over penetration. Just remember when you go lead free to watch your twist rates. Lead free 40grn .22 cal bullet is the same length as a 55grn Vmax or so. You need a fairly fast twist for the varmint calibers. But if you are talking big game, Barnes TTSX will put stuff in the dirt. Hope this helps. @@buckeyesoutside

I think it’s a fairly dumb design. I do have one magazine that fits slightly better than the other. Could try adding a little material with some JB weld to the rails, and then sand it down until it’s a little more snug. Just a thought. Good luck.

Brother it really looks like that rifle is jumping to the right every time you shoot. Without being there, I can’t tell if your body is out of position, or your trigger pull needs work? Hard to say, but something is going on there.

You can see treetops blowing is several, 1:19 is one of them. Also see and hear 2:44. I will consider growing out my hair to confirm conditions on the range. Should I go mullet or 80s hair band?

@buckeyesoutside
@buckeyesoutside Жыл бұрын
I love home made stuff! It’s the best when you get it figured out. I would suggest filling the bags more full. If there is less room for the sand to move around they should become more stable. A couple different sizes and some more full than others should give you a good combo. Half of the fun is experimenting. Good luck!
@bryantbutlermf

@@buckeyesoutside yeah that is a great idea actually I did notice the home made ones do seem to harden up when they’re full they just kept tearing from the weight. I’ll combine the ones I have and give it another go. I use them but don’t get the accuracy a 22 wmr should have. Imo you should be able to shoot the red out of the target at 50 yards no problem Thank you man happy shooting
