The location of the shoot was Malibu. As far as an interpretation of the song, it might be better to just think of it as abstract musical art. To take the video on face value without trying to resolve it with the lyrics, it seems like it's about three girls who are somehow possessed by this weird tree of life that causes them to be lethargic, always thinking about the tree, and sleepwalking to it. The old lady knows what's up but can't do anything to stop the tree from eventually taking a girl and turning her into a bunch of flowers (I assume a chain saw is out of the question). Maybe there's some metaphor behind it but I think we'd have to get an idea what that might be from Courtney. I very much like this song though.
