Also loving the arrangements from the handheld Castlevanias. They are so overlooked compared to the others, and they really are great games, and honestly packed with content for a god damn handheld title for 40 bucks.
@GoodmansGhost4 жыл бұрын
People that complain about Castlevania, Sonic and some other franchises getting worse in the 3D era just completely ignore that they often released 2D games of the same quality as their old stuff on the handhelds.
@kohlrak4 жыл бұрын
@@GoodmansGhost I think the issue with alot of them is that the transitions to 3d aren't so good. Sonic is a classic example. The 3d sonics aren't platformers, especially when you fall through the platforms in normal play Not every game designer can handle the 3d mentality. But when alot of them learn this, they go back to 2.5D and are just fine. The problem is, some things are hard to throw into an whole new environment, and it taks skilled people who can make it continue to work. Look how metroid prime turned out, as that was a great example of a great transition to 3d. Capcom was smart with megaman legends: they didn't even try to pretend it was going to stay a platformer. But what did Minecraft, Cave Story, Terraria, etc teach us? People will play a game that "looks cool" for it's graphics, and drop it. If a game looks like crap or semi-decent, as long as the gameplay holds up andthe graphics aren't in the way of the gameplay, people will play it if you can show the fun in it.Companies trying to sell things like handheld castlevania don't know how to advertise their games, and it's not like they could use streaming to help advertise it right through streamers actually showing it properly. Look how monster hunter was advertised in the US, vs how it was in Japan, then also turn around and tell me which adverts were better. But, keep in mind, those differences were how they thought they should advertise in america (especially look at Monster Hunter Tri's english advertisements). Monster Hunter's most effective advertisment campaign was run by a monster hunter meme team that did it for free. Bloodstained was advertised to castlevania fans, not a general audience. Look how it's doing. Look at how Dead or Alive 5 was advertised compared to other DoA games, and see how it did compared to other DoA games. The trick, at the end of the day, is to only use the resources that you need to get the picture across. Dragon Quest Builders is not outselling minecraft, despite being comparable with better graphics. The thing is, the companies making these games can't see and understand this, despite how incredibly obvious this all is. Sonic and Megaman don't need 3d. Metroid and Mario games actually use the 3d, don't need it, but properly take advantage of it to expand themselves (as a result, people play the 3d and 2d games both). Some people are much better with 2d than a 3d expert is with 3d (which is where Iga is at). The companies that realize this are making some great 2.5d games, and some people like the shovelknight devs found their place in 8.5bit.

I can only imagine Jonathan and Charlotte running around the desert painting in a classic Prince of Persia style with this on the background. Amazing music! It also sounds a lot like the original but with some obvious fluctuations, I guess that's the problem with classic game music, can't vary it too much without adding different notes.

So, I am going to build a new PC soon. I was thinking... maybe this time I won't be an audiophile snob and I'll just get a higher-end board with good integrated audio. Integrated audio on many boards gets special treatment now, special caps and isolation! But no, then I remember Savaged Regime's covers and I'm like... "defying the false narrative from fanboys" Indeed. Obviously, SNEStards know nothing of what the Mega Drive can do. It's far better than what any other SNES game can do (both hardware and music-wise) without the SNES using cheater chips.
@GaliMercury5 жыл бұрын
@@solarflare9078 Sometimes I get the feeling that after we're done collectively getting off on the high that is Savaged Regime's work, that Genesis fans newfound pride will turn into arrogance and we will become as deplorable as many SNES fans. But I dunno, maybe I'm nuts. I'm not saying that we shouldn't be proud of the Mega Drive and the impact it had on gaming, but what I am saying is that moderation is key lest we become what we hate.
@retrosoul87705 жыл бұрын
Gali, I strongly agree. Balance is key here. The reason why I champion the Genesis/MD is because it doesn't get the acknowledgement and appreciation it definitely deserves especially in the US. It is a misrepresented and misunderstood system, far greater that what it generally gets credit for being here. But that has never been to say that it is "by far" superior to the Snes overall, in some key technical respects, it absolutely is better, but the Snes has its advantages as well as we should expect being 2 years newer but it should have been much better though that's another story lol. They're both timelessly great in their own ways and though I'll always strongly prefer the MD, becoming a fanboy for any system is a walking cancer I'd never dream of becoming. And I hope other fans (cough solar flare :) can remain moderate as well.

5K subs, man, it took more time than what it should have but anyway in life, quality > quantity, for every single things, so better be kinda niche and properly recognized rather than the opposite! As for this cover, yet another one that I don't know the original (I'm not much into the metroidvania's as I prefer the classicvania's) but this was nevertheless blissful to listen to! (I'm gonna check the original later on but something tells me that I'm gonna prefer your cover over it, once again)
