I have a 2017 Q60s red sport. You nailed this review. I absolutely love this car, hands down one of the best looking cars at any price on the road. however there are some quirks. Infotainment and tranny being the biggest. You are correct when saying this is a luxury car first. It is not a German sports car, it also is more reliable as a daily driver than one too. This car is whatever you want it to be, and looks good doing it. Everything you said was spot on however the underneath of my car does not look like the one in this video. I have AWD and opted to not get steer by wire ( thank god) and Immediately took the crappy run flats off, went plus one 265/40/19and put a set of Michelin pilot super sports on and it makes a HUGE difference. Thanks for your great reviews, I enjoy all of them. Good stuff!!

Traded in my '09 G37 for an exellent deal on a 2016 Q50 RS in November 2017. My opinions based on my experience: 1st the easy part: the engine. It's awesome. Done. 2nd, transmission: If you've owned a G37, you know how to get the most out of it. When it upshifts (in Standard mode) from letting off the gas and it gets into the 1500-2000 RPM range, you can either give it a little extra gas and it'll downshift or you can downshift it with the paddle on the fly (or the shifter in manual position). In Sport+ the upshift into low RPM doesn't happen. In Sport it happens rarely because it holds the lower gear/higher RPM's more, though not as far as in Sport+. In fact, it'll downshift a little more aggressively than my taste when slowing down abruptly in Sport and Sport+ but I've corresponded with other drivers who prefer that. So, it's a matter of taste and, thus, your own test drive experience is what you should base your purchase decision on. 3rd, steering: my test drive took place in very congested traffic. I was quickly sold on the power and looks and didn't get to scrutinize the steering. I was very concerned I may have made a bad decision on my 100 mile highway drive back home because steering felt too sensitive in Standard. After a couple of days driving it in Sport and Sport+ mode on my favorite local twisties, I found it better centered and slightly heavier, thankfully. (I can't be sure it isn't me adapting or the ECU.) So, I set my Personal setting with the steering and engine on Sport, suspension in Standard. 4th, suspension: very very well-planted on either mode IMO. (By the way, I get no little noises, rattles or buzzes at all in my car. The run flat tires could be a little quieter. Next set will be Michelin SS's or PS4's.) 5th, looks: are a matter of personal taste and I love my Graphite Shadow car with Gray wheels and tints. I could have bought a couple of comparable vintage/mileage 435i's but preferred the Q50 RS body lines and interior room. That's just my personal taste. 6th, infotainment system: It's fine and, truth be told, I don't really care about that stuff. Finally, regarding appearance of quality from underneath that Savage Geese cites as being the same as G37: I drove the G37 to 87K with 8 years of Miami, Florida heat on the bushings, and all other components, and I never heard a CV joint knock, squeek, buzz, nothing. Never had to replace any components at all other than brake pads, tires. Honestly, I felt guilty, spoiled, privileged when I looked back after trading the G37. So, Infiniti won my brand loyalty with a great previous experience and the aid of a 2000 Maxima that was as trouble free as my 05 Accord ESV6, Camry, 626, 2 Civics and 2 Corollas. Just sharing my experience. Oh, most importantly, every time I drive it, I have a lot of fun.
@centripetal257 жыл бұрын
Same story, I got the Q50 RS well below sticker because people don't see it for the value performance it is. Opted out of all tech. It beats cars twice its price in a straight line and handles better than F-Sports I've driven. Sure it doesn't compare well with German competitors but you are sacrificing a lot of reliability there. The RS is an amazing all arounder for the value. For what its worth I passed my Subaru STI to my wife. The RS is not as slick but still engaging enough, and that should say a lot. Very happy with it.

Red sport with normal steering, no safety tech, wheel and tire package, intake, exhaust, lower down pipes, springs, and strut tower bar has turned this coupe into something amazing. SavageGeese you nailed this review in every respect, good and bad, nothing left to be said there. The question is value, these lease much better than the competitors for the same MSRP. Negotiate hard with the dealers, it works. They are great cars with very livable flaws but $ per $ they become more attractive than the competition. That's why I stick with Infiniti. I have a '16 Q50 RS400 and love it after a year. Here's how you take the Q50/Q60 Red Sports to the next level. Don't get DAS, the standard electronic steering is still much better. Take the $2400 you save from that "nanny package", put on Michelin Pilot Super Sports or A/S 3+ tires, you can go 255 on the AWD and 255/285 on the RWD model stock wheels, add the Infiniti Motorsport exhaust and body mold splash guards. You'll have hundreds left over and a car that 1) steers better (no DAS), 2) handles and rides better (stock tires stink), 3) sounds like a performance vehicle but not over the top, stock exhaust is way too quiet. With the above all the nit picks go away, the engine was awarded a Top 10 pick and deserves it. I am a fan, and I've owned Germans and Jags, not a track car but a great sport daily driver.

I've had this exact car, the red, Red Sport AWD, but without the carbon fiber accents for a little over three months now. I'm getting around 24 MPG. I usually have it in eco mode when I'm stuck in traffic, but otherwise tend to drive a little over the speed limit in both the normal and sport modes, so I'm not sure why you were only getting 15. The rattle you heard may have been that the rear seat wasn't all the way back. I heard that same rattle when I first got the car and realized I hadn't pushed it back into the catch all the way after having the back seat down. I haven't heard it since. Having driven a Lexus SC430 for the last 11 years, the infotainment system is not a big drawback since I've been living in the stone age in that regard. I did not know you could turn it off in the Q60 until I revisited this video after buying the car. Thanks for showing me that trick. Other than the seat belt being a little uncomfortable and no Apple Talk, I love the car and really enjoy driving it. For my taste, it is the perfect combination of power and luxury and I've had several compliments on the appearance.

Exactly, and why spend $55-$65k? And if you really want to spend that much, then whynot something like a GT350? or a Cayman S? or TTRS? Agreed they will be bargains used, but they may be harder to find than the g37's from the last generation as I don't believe many of the redsports are even selling, and Nissan will use that as further justification to kill off sports cars just like they have with the Z ("see, we tried, and it didnt' sell..." marketing flunkee's and accountants are destroying these companies). I wish we could go back to the days where products sold themselves because they actually were GOOD, not because marketing added acronyms and "tech" fluff. Yess. Exactly. I leased a RC350 for two years from 2015-2017. It was a FSport with all the options with red interior. I loved the look of it. But I friggin hated driving it. It was basically like a horse with way too much weight on top of it. It would run but it had no feedback, no pull. And on the top of it, it had the worst gas mileage I've had in a vehicle. It was rated 28 highway and 23 combined but I never got more than 19mpg out of that car. The car was full of electronics and had the most awesome sound system (Mark Levinson) but that wasn't enough to make it a car that I'd actually buy. I wasn't the slightest sad when I turned it in. I actually was glad when I did. I now drive a Q60 2017 3.0T. I actually like this car since it has a lot of pep. Lot of people go into reviewing this car with the knowledge that it has drive by wire steering and that they tend to overfocus on that for some reason. I bet if they never knew that it had DBW, they probably wouldn't notice it much. In fact, that never ever bothered me one bit. In fact, I can't tell the difference between this car and my wifes other infiniti that doesn't have DBW. The one thing I'd say is that Infiniti screwed the pooch by installing a shitty exhaust on this car. Most people including the other dude in this video who was trying to find words to indicate of why he didn't like the driveability of the car even though it has great pep and handling was likely eluding to the fact that it doesn't sound like a 400hp car. It doesn't. It like other newer cars generates exhaust notes through the speakers which is pretty lame. Fortunately Infiniti got the message and are now offering a helmholtz oem exhaust as an afterpurchase option.

They try to push it as a performance car and it's not and it's not a great luxury car either. It's just middle ground like most Infiniti cars. BUT this car will be a great buy second hand when the prices fall but not worth 65k at all.
@aramgaribyan62487 жыл бұрын
You can get it for $52k and it comes with everything you'll ever need. You can option a BMW 320i for like 40k+, doesn't mean it's a 40k worthy car.
@stefanfreestylez7 жыл бұрын
Rob Ctrc for 30k id rather have e92 m3 or c63 or idk there are too many used cars that are much better driving more reliable better built and faster.
@aramgaribyan62487 жыл бұрын
Good luck finding a well kept e92 m3 for 30k, that's after 2010. Not to mention those cars need their own bank accounts for regular maintenance cause they have so much major issues after the 40-50k mile mark. And i'm confused that you used m3/c63 in the same sentence as reliable lol.
@07wrxtr17 жыл бұрын
And that's the problem. $65k gets you what with other manufacturers? Whynot an M2 instead? or a Stingray? or a GT350? or a ZL1 Camaro? or a used Cayman S? If you're really going to spend that much, then you may as well get what you really want for a sports vehicle rather than something that's kinda/sorta/maybe halfway there. What's sad is that this car is barely faster than an older 370z with an exhaust and a tune, which anyone can go get for around $15-17k if you really want to stay with a Nissan, so then why go through the exercise of depreciation and high car payments? The real issue is Nissan is going to kill off the Z because they think they can make the margin with the Q60, and the reality is that people with either hold on to the old Z, or go to a different brand completely, or wait for this thing to depreciate like a Mercedes after 36-48 months.

Another great review! I love how you tell it like it is. These manufacturers think they have all the shizzle and it's really nothing more than swapping technology together in a half-hazard Manor and expecting people to pay 65- grand for the car. That under body crap and wire looming on a $65,000 vehicle is unacceptable. You could probably pick these vehicles up off lease if you're really wanted one badly enough.

My thoughts about this episode: I loved Scott's enthusiasm in this one. It was cool to see how he explained his experience driving before Mr. Goose. Also really liked the Final Thoughts section with the projector displaying slow shots of the car in the background. My thoughts about the car: Love the exterior but the interior is quite bland and boring. Even without the drive-by-wire, $54K is a bit much if you take into account the shoddy quality evident on the underside. It seems like "just another luxury sports car" and not really that intriguing to be honest. Can't get enough of these reviews though! And ready to see what you guys think of the Kia Stinger!

One big pet peeve I have with this car is it does not come with Navigation standard. You can buy a base Nissan Maxima (all Maximas have NAV standard) but it's upmarket and much more expensive Infiniti Q60 you have to pay extra for it. In 2016 I rented a mid grade Maxima which of course had NAV which was great since I was traveling and needed to know how to get around. This year from the same rental company I selected a sports car to rent and at some point in the process they put me in a Infiniti Q60. I was BLOWN AWAY by the exterior and to me the interior looked equally nice. Then much to my chagrin I discovered the car had no NAV so I had to switch out to a Dodge Charger RT. Why? Well even though the Charger was lacking NAV, it had Android Auto and Apple Carplay functionality. Come on Nissan! If you are not going to make NAV standard in a Coupe that runs upwards of 60k in price at least offer Android Auto and Apple Carplay standard! YEESH! :(

My wife has this exact car but with the red interior. She loves it! She likes to go fast when she wants to and of course it's pretty stunning in the red color. I like it's awd for her so with the power comes control. The carbon parts are cool and make it stand out from the other Q's. As far as MPG goes if you're buying/leasing a $65k car gas money shouldn't be a deal breaker. If you can't afford to put gas in it then might need to step down in motor size. Your review was honest and hit on all the pros and cons of the car.

This review bums me out a little bit. I have a G37S, and much of the pros and cons haven't changed. The 7AT was so-so 10 years ago... thankfully the car is fast enough that it almost doesn't matter. The infotainment system on my 2012 seems BETTER than this- it's ancient, but it's responsive, easy to operate, and reliable. Chassis is the same, etc. Engine and design aside, seems like a bit of a waste.

Agreed, these "quick reviews" are much much better than other people's "quick" reviews...I lover how you show folks that just because the wrapper is all fancy and shiny, that things below that wrapper may not be up to the image the wrapper is trying to convey...Nissan is losing their way and has found ingenious ways to fool their customer base...I understand the end goal is to make a profit, but all of the corner cutting/cost saving measures make a great car not worth driving...but who am I to judge as I own a CX-5, which is nothing but a car of compromises to keep the price in check...

I've owned the Q50 3.0t base for over a year now. I got it for a bit less than some of the competition which is what drew me to it. I was coming from a legacy 2.5gt, so it seems my record with cars is to get something that I thought would be sporty but ended up underwhelming. It's comfortable, it's affordable, and one of the most handsome cars on the market. If you want performance though, I'd shop elsewhere than Infiniti. They get everything not quite right on that.

It is Direct Adaptive Steering. Aside from the complaints, this is a great luxury sport coupe. It does not have the most updated technology but it sure does its job for someone who wants a simple interior layout. I personally do not need all that additional tech like carplay, cooled seats etc. I love the design that Infiniti currents provides. I do wish the 7AT was more responsive but it is a rather reliable trans. The VR motor is also very reliable and has been recognized for that. With the Q Inspiration being released and the winner of 'Best Concept Vehicle' and awarded 'Best Designed Interior' at 2018 NAIAS by EyesOn Design - it is very exciting for Infiniti buyers. The future of Infiniti looks very bright and rewarding.

@07wrxtr17 жыл бұрын
Exactly: They decided about 10 years ago that they want to be a volume seller, and if you want "the best" they have, then you have to over pay and compromise with the whole "infinity" garbage with tech that's not needed. They are attempting further product differentiation by getting rid of the 370z and hoping that people go with a Q60 if they want to stay with Nissan, however, they'll find after they fire their completely worthless marketing turds, that those in the market for a sports car will simply look to other brands, and that's really the overall trend among most car makers. All the new cars "look sporty" just like all the hipsters have beards or tats but cannot change a tire or fight. All show/no go, or if you want some go, then it's overpriced and you may as well go to a different brand completely. There's simply nolonger a value unless you pick one of these up used without the retarded adaptive "packages" the mouth breathing dealerships insist on ordering so they can just GOUGE the new car buyers with. Thats the other issue: You go to a dealer, yeah, try finding one in stock with the color and only the necessities. Good luck!

Gear ratios aren't right? What? 1st and 2nd are short to get you up to 60 quick and the rest do a great job keeping the car in it's power band when shifting. Not sure I follow you on that comment. On the freeway in 6th you're at over 2,100rpm allow you to just goose the throttle to pass. What's not to like? In terms of slow, I'll give you it's no ZF nor the DSG I've come from in my S4 but under WOT it's not slow and shifts up and down without a lag. It's under normal driving where I find it lags a bit.
@marky6787 жыл бұрын
Thats what I thought too. This 7-speed gears perfectly through out whole speed range.
@ms3er3967 жыл бұрын
It really does. Gearing isn't the problem; programing is. I have no doubt if turners tapped into Trans. Control Unit and re-worked the shifting it would be way better. It upshifts too soon even in Sport Mode and under moderate throttle it downshifts too slow. Key is to use the paddles down shift manually and then apply the gas. I don't expect nor care if it shifts "crisp" under moderate to lazy driving. That's actually kinda the idea unless you're calling for power.
@steverapos39046 жыл бұрын
Actually his description sounds a lot like my 2010 g37 - the transmission is obviously conservative unless you go into sport mode. Even sport mode is not all that aggressive - it almost could be the regular mode. Lastly, even with the conservative gearing the gas usage is high. All that being said my 2010 can be quite fun in manual mode and has been very reliable - overall the pros outweigh the cons

Where have you seen 379/month for a Red Sport? I think you're thinking of the Silver Sport. I mean, sure, it can be 379/month if you put a huge amount of down on a lease, but most people put around 2000-3000/down and with that much down it'll never be 379/month anywhere in the states.

When will I learn? Seems like your math didn't check out there bud. Infiniti's usually lease for 39 months with an average $2k down on sign-off before payments are calculated. 4k-2k = 2k, and for 39 months 2k extra down translates to about $50/month for 39 months, 379 is about 380, 380 + 50 = 430, not 490. Pretty much nobody leases cars with $0 down. When will you learn how to do basic math, eh? Blyat.

Great and honest review. I thought you'd say you didn't like it so I was somewhat surprised. I have the 2018 Q50 RS which is slightly less sexy than the Q60 but still a gorgeous car in my view. I agree with everything you said. I wish my car had the same seats, colors and door panels as the Q60, but other than that, these cars are essentially the same under the skin. It drives fantastically if you can get over wishing for a ZF8 and the harsh city ride which actually feels perfect on the highway. It also feels somewhat corked from the factory but that can be fixed with some bolt-ons and tune. Overall the car has fantastic livability. Several times I've considered trading it for an Audi or BMW (came from BMW) but whenever I drive a BMW I can't help feeling I've grown accustomed to the feeling of the Q and actually have a hard time feeling like it's worth it to go back, all things considered. Audi (have driven the S4, S5 Sportback, A6, A7) on the other hand, feels much more refined and pleasant to me in almost every way, but it's hard to justify the extra cost, especially considering the tuning potential of the Q and long term ownership costs for each (I don't like leasing and prefer to put my money to work vs sinking it into depreciating assets) the Q is the "value" option for the people who don't care so much about the logo. I know Infiniti doesn't get the same kind of respect that the German cars do but that's fine with me. Anyone who knows these cars can appreciate them for what they are - great cars with cousin-of-GTR engines that look good, perform very well, have decent room in the back and likely better long term cost of ownership than anything from the Fatherland.

I honestly feel this car is on par with an A6--it is less of a sports car then my 2020 AWD Stinger. It is a nice car but it uses a mix of old an new--like the instrument panel which looks similiar to a mid 2000s car.I woul def get this over an AUDI or bimmer--simply because it is still 10 to 15k less--but since I had to spend my own money--I chose a Stinger cause the stinger was about 10 to 15k lower then this.Exotic leather and the extra electronics and the german premium "feel" is just not worth it to me--I would rather have money in the bank--which i do--and low maintenence costs..The car is actually pretty fast--you just have to punch it more to get to speed cause the tranny feels just like my stinger when it is "eco" mode.

Engine wise . take a look at stock dyno numbers for this car . 378+ at the wheels . thats more then 400 crank . so incredible engine . and that is what i like the most of this car . next to it is the handling to me atleast with no track time ever or something close to a race car in my life : ) Thanks Savage . you are one of the best / my favorite car reviewer on KZbin ! dont change once you get more $$$$ : ) take care. keep it real .

I’m sorry but you guys are completely missing the point with these new Infiniti Q50s red sport and Q60s Red sport. I had an early model AWD 2014 Q50s 3.7L 328hp with the optional flyby wire system. This individual Infiniti that I had in my possession I drove for over 11 months and I loved it. We purchased it under the CPO program and the dealership had upgraded the tires with the optional zero pressure Bridgestone Potenzas. This individual Infiniti handle like a dream. At first yes it was a different type of driving dynamics that this vehicle offered but soon after I had it by the second month I was already used to the driving style of this individual car I always had all the electronics set to the most aggressive flyby wire response with the engine and transmission set to eco-mode. In order to truly understand these Infiniti’s you have to own one for several months instead of driving it for a week. This AWD 2014 Infiniti Q50s became my daily driver when I started Uber & Lyft. After the dealership downloaded the latest software the touchscreens became a bit more responsive unfortunately the load time did not change until the next model year other than that everything else was very easy to utilize you never have to pull out the owners manual to understand the system although there is one feature that this Infiniti’s should have from the factory is Apple CarPlay and android audio. In order to understand how well I got to know this Infiniti we purchased it with 27,000 miles on the odometer by the time I sold the Infiniti I had already racked up 63,000 miles.
