I’m going to try this. I think the seal will stick better if you heat it before sticking it down. I got both the 20mm and 23mm to see which size z shape will fit best

It still looks great and hasn’t delaminated but they changed the adhesive on it so I suggest getting and upgrade on that and it’ll work great

how difficult is it to take out that trim without breaking it? does the seal glue hold up to the trim attached?

removing the trim is not hard especially if you take the rear quarter windows off. After reviewing the product again, I think they changed the adhesive on the seal so it does not stick as well anymore. I would just recommend upgrading the adhesive on the seal to prevent delamination. Mine have been fine since I installed them on the car which has been over a year now

4m will be fine. Just make sure to put better adhesive on the strip. They changed the adhesive after this video and it isn’t as good

I just did this with the same z shape gasket and I think they might have made it smaller. I have a gap in the curved area.

@@Qadi90wasn’t that bad. I ended up removing it and sticking on a new piece more towards the edge. I then stuffed another d shaped gasket under it to make it sturdier.

I had a 8meter roll and ended up not even using half of it. I think the 4 meter roll should be enough since the gasket only goes around the rear quarter windows

It's not about the gaskets. BMW would make you replace the whole trim which now probably costs even more than $500 a side. The gasket is not produced separately as OEM.

😂 the trim pieces are at least 500 each for the base and even more if you get your hands on the gloss and the only reason we have to change them is because the rubber disintegrates. No replacement offered by bmw so we have the buy the whole trim or you can diy the fix for a few bucks

No, they are not. To begin with, it is a 19+ year old vehicle. The parts for those vehicles are as cheap as dirt. You can literally find them everywhere from Amazon to your local junkyard. I work at a BMW auto shop near Chicago called Bavarian Auto Werk. You going to tell how much these parts cost 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 okay bud. Whatever you said. You paying $500+ you getting f*** without vaseline.

Just cause you buy cheap used garbage parts buddy dont compare them to quality parts. There isnt shit cheap on e46 bmws and exactly why it isnt cheap cus its old and certain parts go for more $$$ i paid 230$ for my flat black drip rail so yea i can see a gloss version going for 400+ $

The gaskets still look great and are adhered to the trim. From new purchase I recommend updating the adhesive since they changed it after I made the video
