Save Byron Park, Wealdstone (by Pete Tomsett)

We need your help to save Byron Park, Wealdstone, north-west London. Harrow Council has announced plans to rebuild the local Leisure Centre but sadly the plan, called The Byron Quarter, also involves building over parts of the adjoining park. Instead of green space, trees, pathways & the playground, they want to put in a Bowls Club, a large hall (for roller discos & wedding parties) and numerous (15?) blocks of flats up to 10 storeys high. There has already been substantial opposition from local people, however the council is still trying to push the plans through.
The park is well loved and well used, and green spaces like this in urban areas are a sign of a civilised society. The park should be valued for what it is, protected and even enhanced with new planting of trees, bushes and plants. Sadly the local planners and blundering local politicians are very short-sighted and will go ahead with this vandalisation unless enough people oppose it. Please help to circulate this video and let Harrow's planners and politicians know your feelings. When they try to push it through the planning process please put in a formal objection - I will try to post details but keep a look out through the council's website if you can too.

I agree... Harrow Council acts in undemocratic way whilst the people act in a democratic way. Clearly many people are opposed to the plan...
