Is Navigation even considered useless on an Archipelago? Magellan's Voyage gives +1 movement to all naval units and is never obsoleted. I guess its the optional tech cost on top that makes it too expensive to go for?

I thought commercial civs just have reduced corruption. 2 workers per city for a regular civ and 1.5 for an industrious is what I remember as the guidelines on civfanatics. Also, irrigation is possible everywhere with the discovery of Electricity.
@suedeciviii71424 жыл бұрын
Commercial civs get +2 commerce per turn in the city center at size 7. I did a test a while back and discovered that, in many cases, that was actually a bigger deal than the (modest) reduction in corruption they get.

Hey suede, every time I switch to republic it seems to crash my economy despite the commerce bonus. It doesn’t normally seem to be unit support causing the issue, what else would it be?
@suedeciviii71424 жыл бұрын
Lots of people posted plausible reasons. I'd have to see the save file, send it to suedeciviii@gmail.com. Unless you're turning up the luxury slider when you switch, it doesn't make sense though. Honestly from experience, I'd say, are you absolutely sure unit support isn't the issue? Remember, in republic, you pay 2 gold per turn per unit over the cap. So even being, say, 10 units over the cap, can be quite costly if you don't have much income.

I'm confused about the balance between capturing land and avoiding corruption. On a continent map, don't you want to capture all of the land?
@suedeciviii71422 жыл бұрын
You do yes. There's no balance. More land is good almost without exception. Just the cities you capture will become increasingly useless.

@@suedeciviii7142 so don't build or grow them? if there is no commerce, no tax revenue, thus buildings will be a white elephant?

@@jojohehe3251 Yes and no. For example, in republic you get unit support out of them for being size 7. And courthouses reduce corruption.

I was talking abou small islands in a live video chat with someone. I said i once saw a country spawn on an island so small that they could ony fit their capital in it and he didn't seem to believe me. Well again i found a map like that! I got the huge map with 15 other civilizations on pangea with 80% water and Sumeria spawned on an island that they completely had inside their borders when the capital borders grew!

I bet you’ve probably done this somewhere but I would love to hear you explain Forbidden Palace
@onedementedcow31193 жыл бұрын
I don't remember in which video he explained it, but I'll try to sum up what I remember from it. Forbidden Palace acts as a normal Palace only for the city in which you build it (i.e. removing all corruption). It does not reduce corruption in other cities based on their distance to the Forbidden Palace city, meaning cities directly adjacent to it will not get a large reduction in corruption. However, it does provide a small, equal reduction in corruption for all cities (or at least ones on the same continent, can't remember which).
@bressingham63 жыл бұрын
