You are so right about Wal-Mart's brand. I order online and have delivered. I pretty much get all Great Value and save so much over the nice friendly store closer to me. We love the hash. I tend to short us on servings to cut the sodium. Thanks for the tip on the cheese. I have one block of Velveeta that I'll use up soon. I have been freezing blocks of cheddar.

Great Value canned chicken is surprisingly good. I've used it in chicken salad, chicken noodle soup, and enchiladas. If you order a case of 12 - 12.5 oz cans online from Walmart it is $19 and change and they'll ship it to your house.

I use the Great Value chicken packet on my Nisson noodle cups. Adds tons of protein and the shelf life is several years long. I get the packets that have the chicken in 1/4 inch cubes not shredded or chopped. You can tell which is which by feeling the chicken in the packet. It won't say cubed on the package. Love the pulled pork.

The Treet actually has 6 servings. So, 4800 mg of sodium. I have some, but definitely high in sodium. The Butterfield roast beef is great. Actually has less sodium than the Walmart brand. Less than .20 higher. Love these taste test videos. Keep it up. Thanks!

I believe spam and so much canned meats have high sodium levels because it preserves the meat! Centuries before people use to preserve meat with salt! IMO

The pull pork is delicious! I bring lots of these items for fast easy meals while camping, of course a steak here and there but since I tent camp by myself most of the time and many times dry camping, I just don’t want to bother with complex meals, the Great Value pasta dishes are just like Pastaroni, add tuna or some meat and vegetables and they’re delish. There are some items here I never thought about, I saved your video. Hey thanks!

Corned beef hash is never good... IMO 🙂 Waaaay back when my grandfather worked for a bulk winery. They would be bottling cheap wine, then an order would come through and they would switch labels and use the same wine for the more expensive brands. No difference. We had a neighbor who insisted he could taste the difference between generic scotch and brand name 'quality' scotch. My dad put cheap generic scotch into a 'quality' brand name scotch bottle. And our neighbor didn't know the difference...

I checked out there Butterfield RB on Walmart. 4 cans for almost 26, greed is killing this country. Going to get the cheese, I bought a case of canned Bega cheese last week, and 24ct case of Red Feather Butter. I have lots of Spam, bacon spam and Hickory, not so nuts about original but I do have a few cans. I hear the GV brand is better than the original. Purchased 1 can to try it, so will see. They are always out of the GV bacon luncheon meat so I can't try it. I do like the Bacon Spam. I save it because it has a good shelf life.

How much were the roast beef and Tamales? Both products are nice and filling! I like both usually. Dollar General has some surprisingly good canned meats also. Can you showcase their stuff in this series? Hot sauce always is good with corned beef hash! Especially the MRE hash when I was in the Army. Just got some 28 ounce canned whole tomatoes on clearance at Sam's Club, six cans for $1.91!

Make sure you do the "per oz." or "per serving" price comparison when deciding whether to buy the Great Value brand instead of a more well-known national brand. Sometimes the only difference is the label that is put on the can or jar. Sometimes the Great Value brand actually costs MORE, sometimes it costs less. Sometimes a popular national brand has a different or "better" flavor compared to other brands. For example, the cheese sauce powder in the original Kraft Macaroni and Cheese Dinner usually tastes different than what is in the less well-known brands. Ditto for Dorito brand tortilla chips compared to other brands of flavored tortilla chips. A slight flavor difference among different brands of junky snack food and comfort foods may not matter much to most adults, but could be a really big deal to some children or teens. If you have a family member who is fussy and conservative about his or her brand of a favorite food, pay attention to this. Test out the unfamiliar brand of food with your fussy eater before you decide to stock up on the item. Saving money on a less expensive brand that some in your household then reject is not much of a savings. Yes, some people will choose to go hungry instead of eating a food they have decided tastes bad. And this could be a problem during a prolonged grid-down when some people are already so distressed that they do not have much of an appetite.
