I have found many beautiful pots at garage sales, second-hand stores, and Goodwill. They cost pennies compared to buying brand new. I try to purchase all my plants as babies so that I can watch them grow, and I have no problem asking the folks at my job or in my neighborhood for cuttings of their plants. I have not tried the compost making yet. But the best thing for me is that I work right across the street from a huge park and every time I see the landscapers doing work there I go with a plastic bag and ask for some of their soil. So far, they have been very generous and my plants have been very happy!

They are great for fertilizer. Certain Starbucks locations engage in a program known as "grounds for your garden". They give you huge bags of used coffee grounds for free.

Hi, do you have any experience with growing plants from seeds? I wanna try but i can barely find any info online on how to properly do it inside haha

I have grown a lot of edible vegetable plants from seed, and doing so with houseplants would be very similar. 1) Make sure you have lots of light. You will probably need a grow light. Place it directly above your planted seeds. 2) Plant the seeds in a seed starting mix in small 1-2" planters or in a seed tray. Pre moisten the mix, place the mix into the pots of choice, make indentations in the mix and put a seed or two into each cell or pot. Cover the seed lightly with the moistened seedling mix. 3) Protect the seed(lings) and keep them warm and humid with a cover such as a cup or plastic bag 4) Keep the seeds moist and brightly lit in order to aid in germination. 4) As they sprout and establish, slowly start exposing them to the environment by removing their cover in order to "harden them off". 5) Once they are ready to be transplanted, carefully plant them into a new pot about 2" larger and pull out any of the smaller seedlings so you can just have the strongest ones planted for the best growth. Keep them somewhat moist, warm, and humid until established. Once established, treat them like a grown houseplant. Good luck!
