I made a few WIP blankets and gave them as gifts. I took unfinished projects. And if they were not flat, I made them flat by sewing closed or frogged so I had a portion of it. I crocheted around those wips and samples and put them into a multi shape collage format, fitting them as puzzle pieces or turning them into strips, rectangles and squares....... arranged them and crocheted together and BOOM. Multicolored multi shape motif afghans! I got rid of most of my WIP piles doing this!!

I can make you one! REALLY! she says. So, that's what I'll be doing with some of my scrap yarn. I may even make me one 😃 Thanks for the tips!

I did have to go yarn shopping as I've moved into a rainbow sharehouse and needed cotton yarn in every colour of the rainbow for some gifts. I donated a bunch of yarn I was probably never going to use (a friend gave me lots of acrylic) to a local second hand craft shop so other people could pick up the things they need for super cheap.

Jayda, one of my favorite things to put in my make-ahead stash for Christmas is from your stocking pattern! You haven’t done a tutorial for it, but it’s a GREAT gift bag or party favor for Christmastime! It can be varied by yarn size or hook size and is plain enough to be dressed up with rhinestone buttons or lovely ribbon, or can have a picot edge at the top; it can be done in multiple colors; it lends itself well to appliqués (I’ve made Christmas scenes); and it’s the cutest shape!!! I love making them and having them available for coworkers, newlyweds (the ones I make with chunky yarn), neighbors, and people at church - and they’re SO versatile!!!! 💕💕💕
@JaydaInStitches
@JaydaInStitches Жыл бұрын
Hi Matilda, that's fantastic! Somehow stockings are crazy fun to make because you can keep changing the colours, the size, the stitch, the yarn, the edging etc. and get something super adorable each time!

I like to make blankets, really large blankets. I have a laundry basket of leftover yarn so I started making scrap granny blankets and random granny squares. Dummy me would but another skein of any color I didn't have enough of rather than just start a new color in that row when I ran out. I'm trying to force myself to just "go with it" and let colors just flow rather than make each row a single color. I did polymer clay for a while and I've decided it would be handy for making buttons or toggles. I never get rid of previous craft items just because I'm not into that craft anymore, I know at some point somerhing in that horde will come in handy for some new hobby. I've decided to try Tunisian crochet and knitting and I think my leftover yarn so be handy for that as well.

I’m working on a granny square blanket / pillow… every time I have a piece of yarn that’s not enough to do anything real with it, I add it to this growing granny square. Sometimes I can get a full round and sometimes I can’t. It’s very colorful.

Hi! Practice 😁 That's basically it! You can make small projects like granny squares or dishcloths to get comfortable with different stitches and different yarns and even different hook sizes - all of which affects our tension. After a while, your fingers and muscles will start to understand the repetition and your tension will smooth out 💗

Hi Kimberly! We've got a live stream on making a Granny Square sweater and another video on making a basic Tunic Sweater (we call it our Groovy Poncho here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5jUfaR8o6aea9U ) and we're working on making a cardigan tutorial that folks can make for themselves to fit perfectly 💗
