Omg! The most expensive item(s) that was bought for my crafting was bought for me by my father 😁 he bought me a set of Addi knitting machines!!! They were on Amazon for just under $400! I was in tears when he told me he got them!!! They should be here tomorrow (Friday, May 3rd). I have had the Sentro knitting machines and both the 48 needle and the 22 needle broke just recently. He insisted on buying the Addi machines for me because they are more durable. I am 44 years old and my Dad still spoils me!!!

Hey Jayda, fyi. I can't 100% see the hook names, but if the lime green is a Prym hook, it's actually pronounced "prim". I know because I've been fussed at twice and actually yelled at once regarding the pronunciation. Not sure why it's so serious. 😂 But, I don't want that for you. Glad you had fun enjoy your haul. Lastly, yay I've got everything needed for the CAL. WOOHOO!

My husband recently took me to a Mennonite yarn shop where the ladies give classes on all sorts of fiber arts. He told me to go get whatever I want and I sure did 😂 almost choked when they said $250. But the yarn is hand dyed, hand painted, and hand spun from their own sheep!! They’re so beautiful.

I am one of those folks who did not like the friend. It was so pretty, and I wanted to love it. However, the shaft is too long, there is no thumb deck, and I don’t like to have my hand that far away from my work. Also, I have a child size Hands and the friend was just plain too long for me. So I gave it to my great niece, and she loves it. She has long tapered fingers, so I think she will enjoy using her new brand. I have the pink clover also, and I love it. I find that the handle of the larger clover and more books feels so nice. They don’t feel, but it’s hard to describe exactly how they do feel. All I know is that I love it. These hooks are light and beautiful and so nice to work with. I think you are going to love your new pink book.

My most expensive purchases by far are my Furls Resin hooks. I haven't bought them all at the same time, but I have quite a few of them. I learned very early on that the Furls hook work better for me due to their wider handle. I have severe carpal tunnel. I can crochet much longer in one session with those than I can with the typical in-store erganoic handles. On top of that, the resin hooks are just beautiful to look at as well. They're definitely functional art for me. The metal "flat" hooks - I can't even use those for more than 2 minutes. Jayda, we love your goofiness! ❤

I like to make lace dollys but can only manage smaller items now. I made five different small designs, then put them into a clear framed 'picture' to make a sort of collage and hung them on my bedroom wall, looks pretty. Looking forward to seeing what your designs are like and crocheting along! The rainbow lace would make lovely coaster shapes. Thanks so much, Jayda for everything you do. 😊

Hi Jayda. Nice haul! I love my Clover Amour hooks. I have 2 sets in all sizes. I had to order the larger ones separately. I do have the Tulip Etimo set but they didn’t cost anywhere near $100, let alone $200. That’s wild! I learned on Susan Bates so now I always check each project with each style of hook either inline or tapered with the specific yarn called for and see what works best for that particular project. I have a Prim I think, lol. They make great knitting needles too. The most expensive tools I’ve ever purchased have been my interchangeable knitting needle sets. Thanks for sharing.😊

I think my most expensive single craft item was my 1978 Lendrum single treadle spinning wheel. ❤ I barely use it, but it’s beautiful and so well made! My husband bought it for me after he was admiring the spinning wheels at the Ann Arbor (Michigan) Fiber Fest in the early 20-teens. I also have the Addi knitting machines. I got the large first, then the 22 needle one after. I love that my kids can use them to make scarves & hats. Oh, and my son made his 7th grade TA (teacher assistant) a handsome 4 panel wool blanket of 4 tubes of 3 blue shades and a brown for her baby boy. 🎉🎉 wheel ~$400, Addi’s~150 & 130. US dollars

My most expensive haul was splurging on Knitting for Olive Pure Silk in Ballerina from Denmark. It is fingerling weight and I plan on using it for clothes project. It wasn’t expensive per ball $13, but the size warranted a bigger amount of yardage. I found a brilliant Dutch creator who created a pattern called Berries yoke sweater which I believe would be amazing in this silk. I will be double stranding to match the pattern hook specs. The other expensive buy was a rainbow coloured Furls hook, twice because I dropped and broke the first.

It's become so expensive to craft. Supplies and tools both. I try to keep my eyes open for deals, but the prices have become a little on the ridiculous side. Still worth it; it's great therapy, but it seems to be getting more expensive all the time. One day soon, I'll need to go out and replenish my stash, but we're moving soon so that can wait a bit. I'm hoping the prices begin to stabilise so that those of limited means can still find some enjoyment in their craft. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the multi-coloured thread; it's so pretty! Also looking forward to seeing your wall hanging come together. I enjoy your videos immensely, even when I don't have anything on my hook; it's a nice way to spend time. Thank-you, Jayda!

Word of advice on the Prym hook: they can ‘squeak’ or drag a bit. If that happens, try rubbing the hook with a dryer sheet. Also, FYI, the Pryms are also available in a metal shaft (more traditional style hook) version. I have a complete set of both styles and love them. They aren’t my only hooks, but I like to alternate between hooks.

Love your yarn haul. I totally love my Clovers hooks. After crocheting for 52 years my arthritis is pretty bad. I tried those Prim hooks because they are longer but hate them. The G hooks splits the yarn. All of them squeak when using acrylic yarn--my primary yarn. Then a creator recommended We Crochet Dots Hooks. They come by sets and seem to go on sale often. OMG I love them. Shaped exactly the same as Clovers except they are 1/2 inch longer and a little thicker grip handle. They are even more comfortable than Clover and I have retired my Clovers. I use knife grip and crochet about 4-6 hours a day. Check them out: We Crochet Dots.

Let me preface my comment with a little info about me. I’m 83 years old and I live in FL. I just received the Addi 46 hook machine with the books included. What was I thinking!! Since I live in Florida and I am only interested in making scarves and hats, I realized that I had made a very expensive mistake. The machine in so pretty and very useful for someone in a cooler climate but not something that I will use enough to justify the cost. I had a great time looking at the books but reality finally tapped me on the shoulder so it is reboxed on on its way back to Amazon.

Not sure if it counts but last year for Christmas I crocheted a blanket for my son using West Yorkshire spinners Retreat Yarn. I think I used 8 skein with the price per skein varying depending on where and when I got them. It probably cost $120 US for the yarn. I also purchased an Ophire hook after seeing a review. I think the crochet hook as around $16 and I don't like it. I just don't like how the yarn feels on the hook. About a year ago I decided I wanted a wooden yarn swift. Made a deal with the husband. He could get a new drill and make one for me. I figure win win. He got something and I got something. It was not inexpensive.
