Revisiting this mix after part 70, it's funny to see how this channel started out with still relatively well-known games and then progressively got deeper and deeper into obscure territory
@Afroctopus5 жыл бұрын
damn, the first track is already amazing. I wish I was actually good at fighting games, they always have sick soundtracks EDIT: straight up listened to this 3 times in a row. this is probably my favorite videogame OST mix i've heard. I've always loved the 90's - early 2000's era of japanese games with heavy fusion and jazz inspiration in the soundtrack and this encapsulates that sound perfectly. thanks for this man

Practice makes perfect. I used to suck at fighting games, and now I'm decent. Just don't give in, if you do then you won't ever improve. You don't need an arcade stick either. I have one, but I use controller mostly because certain fighting games I prefer the controller. Learn frame data, and limit what you learn everyday because if you don't then you will overwhelm yourself like me. I'm an overachiever it's a bad habit of mine. Learn the frame data of certain moves, and see what moves are unsafe. If your character has a slow startup on their moves to the match up compared to the other fighter then don't push buttons let the opponent lead, until you read their moves, or use movement to make them whiff, or miss a move to punish them on their recovery. A bad match up means you will be on the defense, and you will be counter hitting most of the time. I bet you could beat a stranger who never played a fighting game. Also get used to the second player side, rather than just the first player side. A long string can be dangerous due to the buttons some would be pressing in the start of the string, you don't need to remember the long string that player uses, just remember it opens ya up, and what risk are they taking at the start of it. Also use practice mode, and the training dummy settings and the record feature, so you can make the CPU feel like a real player. Watch some professionals who play fighting games to see how they play, and try to implement a little bit of their playstyle into your game play, and combos videos on KZbin can help, but not required since they are not the only ones that are found in the lab. If a combo is complicated to do just drop it, and make your own spin on it. Pretty much that would be dumbing it down, with less damage sometimes. For casual play it shouldn't matter tbh. I can relate with what you posted since I used to be like that, because I never had anyone play with me on fighting games who knew the mechanics. I thought I was good then I went to online play, and got demolished for not knowing frame data, and the match up, then I stopped playing fighting games for quite awhile. Even some pro players feel sad to see new players get unmotivated to play the game due to losing very bad. When you lose to a long string just remember the moves in the startup, not the juggle part, and lab it in the training mode, and find out the risk. If something is broken usually players will report it, that's why fighting games have a lot of updates to adjust balance, and add new things like new moves sometimes, or new character, or outfits.

There's so much wonderful music hidden in obscure or otherwise very strange games, while not obscure Katamari Damacy has one of my personal favourite soundtracks. I even find myself listening to soundtracks from games I've never played (such as Jet Set Radio)
@kurutoshimelody36534 жыл бұрын
I do the same as well. VGMs are made way differently than regular music. It's there to keep the player interest in playing the game, and regular music is there to keep the listener interest in the song.
@kurutoshimelody36534 жыл бұрын
I would say VGMs are hard to mix due to their design.

Man, this was a real treat, and a nice pace off the usual path of uploads. The Video game music genre is a favorite of mine too; many times when younger, I would just go to options and listen to the “Sound Test”; skipping the main game entirely during the 1990’s (Ha!). I would say the majority of tunes I have come to love to over the years originated from video-games I played; though there are video-game tracks among my musical favorites that are from unacquainted games. It invigorates me to look into picking the game up at some point down the line; nice tempo, enjoyed the different genres, maybe next time you can inject some Techno music. I appreciate the House music too, a real shame those two musical styles are not appreciated more as they once were. The younger generation are often surprised by their origins, black suburbs of Detroit, and the south side of Chicago, some speculate Europe or elsewhere, but I digress. This playlist included a variety of fusion music particularly jazz; may I suggest the 1996 Sega Saturn title “Guardian Heroes” for a listen, it is among the best fusion albums in all of video games, it’s arguably best tracks feature jazz instruments. Composed by Nazo² Suzuki, NON, and Natsuhiro Suzuki. "Toki" Meki Saxophone kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6GrfHaEg6-bhK8 Rough and Ready kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6GrfHaEg6-bhK8 Indy kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6GrfHaEg6-bhK8 Sticking with the Sega Saturn, a game that also came out in 1996 (That year was good with video game music.) “Nights into Dreams”, it is more of the fusion genre featuring many instruments and sounds, chief among them Jazz. Composed by Tomoko Sasaki, Naofumi Hataya, and Fumie Kumatani. The Dragon Gave A Loud Scream kzbin.info/www/bejne/Znqqd2qKgpVgbJY The Mantle kzbin.info/www/bejne/Znqqd2qKgpVgbJY Gloom of The N.H.C kzbin.info/www/bejne/Znqqd2qKgpVgbJY Know Thyself! kzbin.info/www/bejne/Znqqd2qKgpVgbJY Moving on, the 1993 arcade cabinet game “Mystic Warriors: Wrath of the Ninjas” by Konami is the least heralded of the three, the other two deserve more recognition too, but it is what it is. The music here features more traditional Japanese music fused with “modern” music and sounds from the 1990’s. The result is extremely original and unique. Composed by Junya Nakano and Yuji Takenouchi. Theme From Mystic Warriors kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3vFkqmBhKiSeqM Beyond The Primeval Forest kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3vFkqmBhKiSeqM Majestic Fortress kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3vFkqmBhKiSeqM Flashback kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3vFkqmBhKiSeqM The tile of this video “Save Point” instantly made me think of the RPG videogame genre song “Saving Point” by Last BeNeVoLeNcE. He is a videogame head particularly a RPG (Role Playing Game) head like myself. It is cool that people are creatively making their musical mark inspired by tunes in videogames. Here are some examples of Last BeNeVoLence if anyone is interested in game themed music/lyrics. Saving Point kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5iblWuNobh5epI Saving Point-Remix bit.ly/2DCJYqj Saving Point-Remix (Instrumental) bit.ly/2Y2dhdX Prologue-Intellect Mix bit.ly/2vwe4aM Prologue-Intellect Mix (Instrumental) bit.ly/2Lcr7sn Here is one more beat by Benevolence, not videogame themed, yet shows his range in participating in more than one musical genre; it features LuzID (Lucy Camp) on lyrics. LuziD - Nonsense (Last BeNeVoLeNcE Remix) bit.ly/2PEiAx3 LuziD - Nonsense (Original) kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3O4qIJ3jddoqdE One more group I think deserves some eyes is the Live Cover Band “Extra Lives”. They cover video game music from all genres, it is spectacular to see them in action. Here is their latest cover (As of this typing): “Aquarius” from Castlevania 3. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHzRhHuvfZqbqqc I genuinely shared this for the interests of others, not for self satisfaction (ego). I rarely post, maybe once or twice a month, if that. On the rare chance I do, it is literally for the benefit of others, that it might help them in some unforeseen way, well at least that is my intent and hope. Thank you for this upload, different from the usual, but it really made my morning. Jet Set Radio was a nice visual choice, really funky beats from that game series; started off strong with Tekken 4’s “Kitsch”, which audibly is the most unique song; that said I still give the heads up to “Authentic Sky” being the best track from Tekken 4. -peace out.
