Apart from 'This Guy's In Love With You' this is the only other time I have heard Herb Alpert singing. I like his voice and he was a very handsome guy so he could have done more singing, although I love his instrumental stuff of course. This is a lovely duet, Lani Hall has a pure voice. I am now going to check out more of Herb's singing.

I'm a big fan of Lani Hall's voice ,I only have her first album the beautiful Hello It's Me.But followed her voice since my teenage days while she was singing with Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66, everytime they played in Rio and also of course through their records.My father's cousin Tião Neto played bass with Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66 in this period.Thank you!

I hope you receive credit and royalties. My mother wrote MISTY. she was never given credit for it.Johny Mathis was the first to sing it.He changed a word.so my mother couldn't sue; nonetheless she never received any credit. That was in the early 1950's and people made records and sent the record in to a studio. Hundreds of songs were written by people.who never got credit or paid. The studios would take the demo and assign it to writers or singers and in order not to be sued, they would change a few musical notes or words. Assign a singer and never give credit to the original writer. Unfortunately most people didn't know the patent laws and so many songs were basically stolen from the original composer. So I hope you got credit and paid. Now. There are laws to protect the original composer but they have to have a lawyer. Many young groups would write songs and the songs were stolen. Many songs we hear are not sung by the person who wrote it. 6-8-2024

Herb, wonderful song with your lovely wife. You sent me an autographed picture from your Fandango album in response to a letter I wrote you in 1982. The TJB has been our family staple record collection forever. I have the Tijuana Brass sheet music book which has all the albums, from the Lonely Bull, to S.R.O. Thanks to that book, I learned guitar chords. John Pisano influenced me, so my 1st electric guitar was a Fender Coronado. My drum teacher the late Ed Slauson was a Nick Ceroli fan, so that's what turned me on to Nick's excellent ensemble drumming. Just so you know, my favorite album is The Beat of the Brass. My favorite "fun" songs are Cowboys and Indians, Mame, Bean Bag, and The Mexican Road Race. God bless, your friend, Darrin.

Mr. Alpert, I read somewhere that upon a visit to Mexico, outside the hotel you were staying, a musician requested that you listen to a piece he had composed, and that you liked it so much that you bought it from him at the moment. Am I the only one who believes Lani Hall cannot sing? She's very off tune here. Herb sounds pretty good and stays on tune. You can even notice him helping her out a bit. They are an amazing couple to last together for so long. But she really can't sing to me.
