The live percussion also sounds great compared to a drum machine.

Cause I was thinking about myself growing up in Oakland, California my mom used to play this all the time and I was such a happy kid so so happy you had such a great time hanging out on the beach, listening to the seagulls😊❤

Along with The Beatles, in 1968 this is a very early music video. There were a few others like, Marvin Gaye with Tami Terrell, The Monkeys, Sonny and Cher, etc. but it was still too expensive. As a recording artist you needed some serious financial backing to pull this off. The record label was footing the bill and you can bet it wasn't cheap. Of course the label would've had access to broadcast quality video recording equipment and the film crew, editing and advertising dept, etc. You're looking at allot of money and time to get one music video done and music videos were not profitable back then. It's still expensive today but access to equipment and personnel is a bit easier. It's fun to watch an old video like this. Looks like 16mm film? Ahh! the memories of a wonderful time in my life. Just met my soon to be wife. We were listening to Bacharach and Bobby Goldsboro songs and everything else on KXOK 630 AM radio St. Louis. Love this song and perfect backdrop for the romantic storyline.

I was born the same year Rise was released (1979) and I have loved Mr. Alpert’s music ever since I was a kid. I’ve been lucky enough to see him and Lani twice in concert.

I remember when Rosie O'Donnell played this video on VH-1, and she talked about the little girl that came out dancing at the end, and then she said how great she was and that she couldn't believe that little girl danced that well, because little girls don't dance that way and then she shwed how little girls dance and it was funny and then she said I still dance that way. It was hilarious 😅
