Awesome! Thank you! I had taken the screw out and just used the lever as a tool to tighten things down. I'm shocked I haven't lost it yet, but that method has gotten old and wanted the same style of levers that is on my DF750! You probably saved me an hour of trying to find a good adjustable-position lever handle.

Sedge, great suggestion to swap out the two locking levers. One important point that you should mention is the correct way to stabilize the fence (the thing you call the plate...) prior to tightening the locking lever. That is, once you've set the thickness gauge to the desired setting (let's say 20mm for example), firmly press down on the top of the left-hand side of the fence to keep it resting firmly on the 20mm detent. While keeping the pressure on that side, go ahead and tighten the fence height locking level. If you put pressure on the right-hand side (the one that the locking lever is on), that side will most likely end out being lower than the opposite side when you lock down the fence. That'll most certainly result in skewed mortises.

Thanks @Sedgetool , the Cross Stop QA-DF 500/700 would really benefit from a similar hack as well, but instead of a male thread post, the 4mm posidrive threads into a brass post. The Cross Stop QA-DF 500/700 arm handles interfere with the pin stops at less than 110mm standoff distance. Anyone find something similar? The McMaster Carr posts don't go down to 4mm thread...

Sedge can't say, but I would say, keep your original hardware, and if you have a problem with something other than the knobs, put the originals back on. Festool does a great job on engineering, but they have fallen to the biggest fallacy in product design. They believe that they get everything right the first time and never have to make changes.
