Sometimes you have to use multiple poly bags to cover the box. I just take a poly bag that is flat and tape one end to the box, roll the box over and tape another poly bag where the last bag ended and roll the box again, trim off and tape up the last seam. Now you will have the two ends that are open, just use the pieces you trimmed off to stick over the ends and fold the corners down pretty like you are wrapping a present or gift box tape them up and you are done. Re Weigh and remeasure the box, When you are entering the measurements for the bag in a box enter the two longest measurements only (example 12x8x4 just enter 12 x 8) and you are done. works every time. I can sure use the $100 when ever you can get it to me. Thanks

I get a shipping discount using eBay shipping labels.......I have gone over to Pirate ship and checked various prices on packages...and I have not found it to be cheaper. For example, I use calculated shipping on ebay, my buyer is charged $12.15 to mail a package, but for me the label cost $9.65. the difference is my eBay discount for being a Top Rated seller. I've never found Pirate Ship to be cheaper for me.

I'm a very small-time seller, but I use Pirate Ship for the few packages I ship (I do mostly porch pick-up on F/B, no eBay, etc.). Love PS. It's very easy and FREE. I don't shop a lot of heavy items (mostly hand-made jewelry in tiny bubble mailers), but it saves a lot of money. I did recently ship 5 lbs of plates, it it save a lot of money. You don't always get the insurance with every type of shipping, though. You get free tracking, not not always get insurance. You have to double-check before buying the label. Some of the recent rates I've used do not offer insurance.

Good video. The problem with the "box in bag" method is that your 12x8x4 box can not fit inside a 12x15 polybag. I literally just tried because I was curious. lol. I made a video about box in bag a little over a year ago and I tried over 50 different combinations of boxes and bags to see if I could find one that actually fit AND saved money and I couldn't. Pirate ship cubic rate is based on volume and for the box in bag method to be cheaper than just a box, the bag would have to have a smaller total volume capacity than the box that's inside of it, which is physically impossible. If anyone can show me a "box in bag" dimension that actually saves money vs just a box, I'll pay you $100.

@@btackett2 this entire shipping label is fake. It is for example purposes only. I say this in the video. If that exact size bag doesn’t fit that exact box in the example then a smaller box may need to be used or a bigger bag. But the dimensions of the box compared to the PayPal label by weight are very real. Calling the entire example irresponsible is a tad excessive. The entire point was to demonstrate how different circumstances can vastly change the price when you’re dealing with cubic priority versus commercial rates by weight.

@@LindeyGlenn This label being fake isn't the issue, you are using a fake label that saves money where as if you used the actual label it wouldn't, that is the irresponsible part. Your number 1 viewed video, and I have watched your channel a lot and am not a hater at all, is giving misinformation on box in bag, which you share in this video as the go to example for how to do it. Box in bag is used incorrectly a LOT and is taking advantage of the free options that Pirate Ship provides which could cost us Pirate Ship in the worst case, and in the lesser case could cost the seller or buyer upon delivery if the post office, which is starving right now, decided to be over the box in bag cheating that happens. The only way that cubic saves you money is if you are shipping a very heavy item in a small box, it saves then, box in bag is nominal savings if used correctly and is abused by a lot of sellers. You are not the only reseller that put this information out and it is easy to understand that people get confused by it but Josh (Hairy Tornado) put out a very informative video about how Pirate Ship explains box in bag is suppose to be used. I recommend watching it.

I WAS a Top Seller (got Corona & was completely incapacitated/hospitalized via ventilator for the entire month of October...lost my rating as a result because eBay’s official policy is “we don’t recognize medical emergencies in consideration of gaining or retaining Top Seller Status”) & now that I’m not I have noticed that I pay more (to be fair, it isn’t an astronomical increase) for ANY shipping via the eBay platform. I’ve always opted to use pirate ship 95% of the time anyway so it isn’t that big a deal. The increase in fees however is RIDICULOUS 🤷🏻‍♂️

It’s the only way to go, AND it looks soooo much more professional. I use personalized poly bags with my company logo on them, I also average 1 positive feedback for every 2.6 orders. Presentation will drastically increase your feedback & decrease your returns & false claims (I don’t know exactly why...I just know that’s been the case for me).

Great video! However is not alway truth that way. I had red the entire shipping rate from usps policy. To save money on shipping, the most important thing is : You need to know what zone is your customer in. There are total 9 zones. Cubic priority sometime more expensive than dimensional or regional. It is depend on how far or close you are sending items to, so you can switch around priority mailing choices. There are chart in pirate that will help everyone know when to switch base on the destination zone. Sometime, you need to deduct some items the item in the box to bring you to lower shipping tier if shipping cost override the profit margin.

Lindey: Would you know anything about using Regional A or B boxes being used to ship internationally? I'm not sure if you ship outside of the US or not. I tried to ship a small 4oz bottle of paint to Canada and it costs nearly $14; so I checked pirate ship for regional box shipping. Pirate ship says it doesn't ship internationally with Regional boxes even though it clearly says for domestic and international use. I'm confused. Any thoughts?

Shippo is cheaper than Pirate Ship most of the time. I've tried them both, and realized I've been using Shippo much more after calculating both shipping results over eBay. You get the same services with Shippo through USPS, and all the others. OK, Pirate Ship does have this order beat, with Shippo costing $13.25 for this same order to ship, especially with the Bag In A Box, option. But most of the time with normal weights that are less than 5 lbs, Shippo will have eBay and Pirate Ship beat. I shipped a 1lb 10oz package, and Shippo charged $8.14, eBay $8.76, and Pirate Ship $8.76. But I do use all three when prices are exactly the same, that's when I just go with eBay.

I just spoke to a PS rep yesterday about this. Do not tape the bag down to the box, it cannot look like a box or be 4 sided, just leave the box loose in the bag. It's best to use a combo that has a little slack, but not a lot. And as Lindey said, you may cut the bag down closer to the box to save more on the cubic rate.

I ship over 90% with First Class and I find that anything too heavy for First Class and too large for a Flat Rate or Regional Flat Rate is cheaper to go Fed Ex. I can print the label and hand the box to a FedEx driver (not express drivers unless it is an express package).

The shortest/ most succinct answer I can offer is...you can’t. The scotch wrap is technically considered a padded envelope. Don’t get me wrong, you’ll likely get away with purchasing a cubic rate label (in which case you just need to get the length & width for your measurements), but at some point you WILL have a package get snagged & you’ll receive a pirate ship email notifying that USPS has changed your label (to the most expensive option they could find) & billed your account for the difference. Hope this helps. If you need more clarification just let me know...I’m happy to be more specific if necessary.

Has anyone been dealing with eBay glitches today??!?? I can't list any drafts. My listings that would end automatically & relist are just ending, not relisting. After 3 separate contacts with customer service, I finally spoke with someone who knew their stuff. He says there is no problem with my account. It is a glitch, and he sent a ticket to IT. Should get a response in 48 hours. Earlier rep told me 3 days max til I could list again!! I have over 50 listings that will end tomorrow - I loose all the metrics from sold quantity ect.. on all of them, if its not fixed by morning.

i dont know how you are getting cheaper rates on pirateship just signed up for FREE ACCT . I just tried a label from NC - WV 10lb box 15x13x9 and eBay is .70 cents CHEAPER! ????

if you are using pirate ship and not ebay shipping system , do you pay ebay their percentage on the shipping cost plus the sale price?
