Ok, brutal honesty time. I don’t see how anyone can seriously compare this to G4. This is giving me hard G3/G5 vibes. Which….there’s nothing wrong with that! Full disclosure, I’m a fan of both G3 and G5 😮You might say I’m easy to please. But G4 was of course just on a completely different level. And call me skeptical, but I don’t see this growing into something that can threaten G4’s legacy either. I just can’t take any show that seriously that uses the five minute format. Now, Bluey manages to pull it off, but I think Bluey is the exception that proves the rule. Like I said though, there’s nothing wrong with this! It looks cute and fun, but I think we should rein in our expectations.

I absolutely adore this show, is it perfect so far? No we've only seen one episode and the game but in my opinion it has a lot of potential for cute character moments, and fun things that the fandom can enjoy! Also for some cute fanart/fan content coming from this show eeee!

The first episode is pretty vapid and uninspired to be honest. Hopefully the writing gets better as it goes on, but they didn't really make a good first impression on me. Personally, I've already branched out of MLP long ago, but instead of looking for another horse show, I just started watching shows made by the people who worked on G4. These include Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, Sonic Prime, Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City, Centaurworld, and Kid Cosmic. They are lovely (especially Kipo, my favorite show of all time). But if you absolutely must have talking horses (or just a show that is still airing, unlike the ones I mentioned), I guess we'll see how this one goes.

I don’t hate G5 as much as other bronies do. However, I don’t like G5 either and Wild Manes is slightly better or just better than G5 right from the get go. Yet I will say this. The G5 movie was despite some big problems IMO. Was mostly good despite itself.

i gave this a shot when the new episode came out, i don't think wild manes is gonna go very far at all. the vision just isn't there, the characters are very shallow and don't embody much more than what's needed to convey the concept behind their toys. of course there's only so much you can do within a 5 minute webisode format but even equestria girls managed to do more with less time. they seem more interested in portraying hijinks than exploring the characters and their world. there's still room for that in the future though! i don't think they started out on a dead end, they can still improve the show going forward. i played the roblox game as well and that's really when i realized what really sets wild manes and FiM apart. even in the mlp G5 roblox game, you get to play AS a pony, but in the wild manes game you play as your regular roblox character and you have a "BFF" horse you can customize. i think that's really what sets the direction apart, G4 and G5 intend to immerse you in what it's like to inhabit the world, whereas wild manes intends to immerse you in what it's like to play with horses.

i don't know how other kids played with toys when they were little, but i rarely if ever imagined myself interacting with dolls, toys, or plushies. i was always imagining them as the main characters interacting with eachother, in a reality separate from ours. i COULDN'T interact, i had put a fourth wall in place.

Double standards. FiM's exploration of characters and their world was alwayd very low effort at best. The Mane 6 started off as flanderized archetypes from the getgo, and their so-called "character development" basically just turned them into props, save for an episode where their biggest dreams just randomly come true out of nowhere with barely any progression leading up to it. And what good is a 22 minute runtime if it's always a "giant monster" or "magic gone haywire" plot lazily filling it most of it out after the writers run out of ideas?

i don't agree with that. even in just FiM's pilot 2-parter they set up and develop characters with unique values, insecurities, and long-term goals that go beyond flanderized archetypes. the worldbuilding kept me captivated throughout even if stuff occasionally happened with little to no buildup. especially in the early seasons a lot of the worldbuilding felt very deliberate. i think wild manes has room for the characters to be explored but i have no idea what they could do with the world. it's a very different, and not nearly as fantastical setting, and judging from what they've released so far it doesn't feel like they intend to do much more with it

I know this is subjective but i wanna say it for the few who agree with me. Obviously, WM addresses a lot of the problems TYT has and improves them greatly. But I also feel that it addresses a lot of the problems I have with G4; just in episode 1 there's no lazy half-baked fantasy worldbuilding, no forced "friendship lessons" that accidentally ruin the point of having friendship as a theme, the writing feels slightly (keyword: SLIGHTLY) more mature and less centerred around obnoxious headache inducing chaos.

This is going to sound harsh but other than the higher quality animation and toys I don’t think Wild Manes has much going for it. Unless you are the type of person who’s into kid’s shows that aren’t trying to be anything more than a kid’s show I don’t think there’s much there to enjoy about Wild Manes so far. If you just like cute ponies and don’t care about an interesting plot then you’ll like it. But it doesn’t look like it’s going to be anything like G4 mlp. It’s not trying to push any boundaries or be anything more than just a show for kids. I think that’s fine but I’m personally not into it.

It's way better then g5. G5 is Terrible. I lost all interest in my little pony with g5. I STILL LOVE G4. The wild mane Is more appealing. The art is beautiful . Wild mane has no fault in the downfall of g five.mlp. Hasbro destroyed that all by themselves. This is the solution to the g five problem. This gives Those who still love the g four Something to enjoy again.
