Whalers Way is located at the start of the Great Australian Bight. It is one of those rare and unique places that has remained largely untouched by humans. It is a pristine and ancient wilderness that is home to all kinds of precious wildlife.
But it is also a very fragile environment.
The coastline here is exposed regularly to extreme, high energy weather. As a result the plants and wildlife that have established themselves here, are extremely slow growing and for that matter, slow to recover.
The local people here know how delicate this coastline is and over the years they have shown it the respect it deserves.
@SouthernLaunch have no right to block access to this location, clear vegetation, build infrastructure, or launch any type of rocket from here (let alone 100+ tonne rockets) without consent from the local people. This project WILL irreparably change Whalers Way. @southernlaunch ‘s own Environmental Impact Survey confirms Whalers Way will be transformed into a constant industrial zone of activity.
So whether you’re a local with a respect for our coastlines, or a non-local who can empathise with this matter, I am calling on you to sign the ‘Save Whalers Way’ petition today.
