The good things about investing in Gold related ETFs 1) LTCG is 12.5% so cost affective compared to FD or Debt funds, as currently they are taxed on income slab. 2) Kind of stable asset ,so can be a good portfolio diversifier. 3) It has a bit of inverse corelation with Equity on extreme downfall. So we can sell the Gold for higher price and can buy more equity on good market corrections. 4) Can be pledged to Stock Broker and use the capital to trade F&O, if you have the right skill. 5)Good alternative for holding Gold in demat format instead of physical metal which overcomes security risk and also mitigate locker expense if you are storing in Banks.

Since you have asked for suggestions, it will be great to have a video or maybe a series of videos dedicated to NRI investing in India. The kind of accounts to hold for stocks, MFs, steps to follow, pitfalls to avoid etc. Additionally, if it could have nuances blended around taxation, that will be great. For example, Singapore has 0 capital gains tax vs UK has 20% CG so how NRIs should strategise based on their country of residence. How did you calculate yearly returns? Based on previous yr close? If thats true so in the end, when nifty was 6k & debt portion was 4k, a minus 20% and then a gain of 25%odd is just a flat return for 2 yrs? Is it correct or am i missing something? Like your investment of 10k went to 8k(-20%) and then 25% +ve return next year is on 8k , right?
