It’s because she could see that he wasn’t having any luck asking any of the other girls out. They wouldn’t give him a chance, just because they stereotyped him. I’m glad she asked him out, it showed that she had a good heart. Even though she didn’t like Screech in a romantic way, she cared about him as a friend, and she knew how humiliating it would be for him to be the only one who didn’t have a prom date.

Screech and Violet would have been better. Because even though Screech had a crush on Lisa, everyone noticed that they did not have anything in common. For example, Screech wasn’t really into the clothes and fashion, it was just something he went along with to try to impress her, and she was not interested in any of his academic pursuits. At one point, Lisa told Screech that she wanted him just as a friend and nothing more. Violet was someone who did have common interests with him. If you look at Steve Urkel and Laura Winslow from Family Matters, in spite of their differences, they did have some academic interests in common.
