I was more of a history nerd obsessed with HOI4 and i talked about history so much because, tbh it's actually really interesting. I would talk nonstop about it back in HS and to my shock, noone even knew what ww2 and 9/11 were. But my passion for history also makes me an assassins creed nerd. HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU PLAY HEARTS OF IRON 4 BTW, I cannot overstate that enough.

I went through exactly the same thing in High school. Expect it was multiplied by 10. They liked anime and all those shows but kept me out of the conversations on purpose. I also Went to the Highschool there (I didn't like the suburbs one bit/ *BUGS* ). Nah this is so true, I got back from AnimeNYC a few days ago and I had the time of my life and it randomly got me thinking growing up as a kid in the 90s to the early 2000s and being a nerd, especially a BLACK nerd SUCKED! Unless you were into that hood shit and only that hood shit, everyone really found you lame for liking something that couldn’t potentially get you arrested. Now I can walk down the street in my cosplay and no one says a thing! Some even know who I am, but big ups to bro for standing on what he liked had the cool sheep reevaluating their lives🤣🤣

Fr one of my good friend I met in highschool liked anime too! It was the best to finally have someone I know like the same thing as me. He even watched a lot and not just Narruto. We used to practice Japanese together on our walk home and it was just super nice to talk to someone who was on the same page as me. We stopped talking sometime during college cause he was really far away and had another life of his own so we just naturally stopped chatting. Sheesh in my school (2000-2009) 99% of the boys in junior highschool were non-stop yugioh Card players. There would be competition for days at lunch. Kids didn’t cosplay much back then because you had to DIY the costume. We could only find a Naruto headband. Pokémon wasn’t just a story but a lifestyle. I do feel bad a lot people felt isolated during those times depending where you live it wasn’t popular. Now it has expanded worldwide. I hope you pop out one day to a anime convention Devonte so I can outshine your cosplay.

Lol I was in highschool during that time, but I can testify, we'd moved on from Yu-Gi-Oh and passed on our deck we worked 10 years on to someone who barely knows anything and Instantly got scammed for every good card by anyone still playing. We did have the kids running in the halls Naruto style, mostly without the headband until they could save up. Hell it was a country town too mostly, but we got a long to get along. So no one really cared. NGL I was tempted to rock the headband for maybe a special occasion but you weren't gonna catch me running from anything not coming out the end of a barrel lol.

Going into middle school i dropped from 230 to 180 and was cut so i threw away all the things i liked that werent sports related because i finally wanted to be popular. When school started i joined every sport i could so people would think i was cool. It worked but i lost a lot of joy in life. When i graduated i was locked up bc the only things i enjoyed at that point in my life was being fucked up and banging. Im 24 and still struggling with addiction and i can almost guarantee if i wouldve just been myself and enjoyed what i enjoyed my life would be a lot different. My point is dont lose yourself trying to impress anyone else bc it will effect you for years to come

Aye my dude thats what it was like for me back then in middle school to graduating 2000 - 2010. 👊😎 I was always the loan quiet shy, social awkward guy, And I was short as hell at 5'2 and now I only grew 2' and I'm 5'4. And had some anger issues growing but martial arts training in Jeet Kun Do always helped calm down lol And I tried to fit in try to get ti know others at skool but never i knew what to say alot.. but yea there were some of my best bros (brothers by bond )were like him and they still are we both loved DBZ ,anime, Yu-Gi-Oh ( i always got my ass kicked in duels.. no cap lmfao), Pokemon and helped me out when I opened up some And we always loved kick each others ass in games and to train and fight too I love your channel man keep doing you and continue to kick and curb stomp the fuck outa lifes ass 👊😌

Devonte The One I KNOW 100% Exactly what you mean. I was born 1982 and I was literally the only Nerd in my 2 neighborhoods of Fairlawn and Anacostia of SE Washington DC. in the 80 and first half of the 90s there were drive byes, shootouts and police raids all around me. Most people were interested in Either Rap, Football, Basketball, street fights, getting laid, drunk, high or both. The few people who played games only played Madden (or NFL Blitz), Mortal Kombat (or street Fighter), NBA Live (or Jam), and after Xbox and PS2 FPS became the next major game other than sports and fighting. Very Few and I mean Very Few were interest in RPG, Action Adventures or other genre unless it was heavily marketed. Most people I know had their first and often only RPG experience was Final Fantasy VII. The only anime that people in my age group watch back then where the bloody and gory verity like Vampire Hunter D, Akira or Heavy Metal. IT was weird that Pokémon and Digimon did catch on though but that was much later like late 90 early 2000. Strang that you as a 90's Kid should have seen more of our community into Video Games and Anime as the Playstation then later XBox were the Catalysts to bringing the Video Game Culture in my Neighborhood.
