I always have two hard drives of the same capacity with the same data, from different manufacturers and in different formats (exFAT and APFS). An extra hard drive is always is way cheaper than a data recovery.

Good idea. How do you backup your data? NAS? Raid? Software backup?

I use a two bay NAS drive, both hard drives mirror each other, this to me appears to be the best way for my needs (unless the NAS is stolen that is 🤭)

I have a Synology NAS at home too, but I don't get to backup my drive all the time or when I'm out and about. Plus, sometimes just too lazy to backup. 😅

I'm watching this because a client of ours dropped his portable hard drive. He sent the drive to a "professional" data recovery company who told him they would look at the drive in exchange for $2,800. Money up front with no guarantee of data recovery. This, again, is why I'm here.

I think the other reason why I was speaking faster is because there's a lot of background noise here - traffic etc. Therefore I'm trying get a good take as quickly as possible before the next interruption. 😭

Dude thanks a bunch it didn't work for me but when you open the lid and I saw something tiking near the disk I had this crazy idea to plug it again and normally drop it downward then boom!!! it pop back up in my explorer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
