When I first got started 3D printing, I went with an Ender, but it was nothing but headaches. Switched to a Bambu X1 about a year ago and my printing issues are practically non-existent. I can’t recommend Bambu printers enough! Such a game-changer!

I've been using a Anycubic for a while and that one had some issues, and now I got a sovol sv06 which has worked really well in the last year

I second the Bambu printers. they are a serious game changer. if you are not into printing multi color and only want to use your printer every once and a while with a single color, the A1 or A1 mini without the AMS are super cheap (compared to their other printers and even some Enders or Ender clones.

I've had 3 different Enders, then a Sovol SV06 which was a big step up, but the Bambu Labs A1 I just got is a whole different animal. It no longer feels like an achievement to get a good print. With the A1, it's a given. No levelling, no Z offset setting, nothing. Just send the file and come back to get it when it's done. I know it can't be perfect and eventually I'll get some failures, but this printer is SO much more ready for prime time than anything I've ever used, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to a new user.

I personally got a Qidi printer which I have no complaints about, every time I store it and turn it back on after a while I usually have to recalibrate the auto bed leveling with that little plastic sheet that you put under the printer nozzle and set its height otherwise I get spaghetti. It does use a nice gcode slicer that I think is compatible with the bambu printer.

Outstanding. I use an ender 3 with a glass bed and bed leveling sensor. One thing that might help is to print that part with a raft. In 3 years I have never had to re level the bed or make any adjustments. Sometimes I have to wait for the bed to completely cool and the part just comes right off.

What a fun antenna! Great video! I've been designing and 3D Printing some parts for my basement 80M mag loop this week. All the fun of a proper height dipole with a tiny bit of the noise. Good times. Edit to add: A Discone is a good unity gain TX antenna for 2M/220/440 as well.

Wow that really did a good job.The auto tracking dish did well too, after enough argument. If you get the "outdoor" dome working, are you planning on putting on the roof so it can gather data all the time? Also, if the outdoor antenna and motor won't fit in the dome, you might consider building a geodesic enclosure from closed cell sheet, or 3d printed sections, that is a bit bigger than the plastic dome for the satellite TV unit. Another great video. Thanks!

Use Blue Painters tape on your print bed with a little cheap hair spray and prints stick much better, once print is done you are able to just peel the tape and also clean print bed!

Scissors are probably fine if they didn't literally break. Cutting metal isn't particularly abrasive so if they can do it, it'll be fine. It's cutting paper, small rocks glued to paper, or carbide insert tooling that'll mess them up

So I actually procured one of those tiny mobile TV motorized antenna's and connected a 2m/70cm antenna to it for amateur satellite. Got it working last summer. But had to replace all the driver electronics with my own.

Tall skinny prints can be finicky, especially on "bedslinger" printers where the bed moves for a horizontal axis. Reducing speed and acceleration, reducing jerk (how fast acceleration changes), adding supports and increasing part cooling can help. What did you try? Also, does the nozzle begin to catch on any part of the print during printing? That can be the culprit too.

You could make a 2x2 array o these things. COMBINE them with a SAT-TV combiner and it would look like some kind of death-ray :) You'd get about 5dB more forward gain as well.

I had an ender 3 and it was aufull, There are loads of good ones like Bambu Lab, but i got the Sovol SV06 Plus, and its amazing, works first try and only cost around £250. or the 7 Plus and it runs klipper

I think you just had a problems in the printing, because you didn't have supports in it. it's much more stable with a tree :) I have to clean my printer and try that design! Seems to work better than i thought it would... I'm working with music and was thinking about an interesting idea: Have you ever tried or have the equipment for moonbouncing a radio signal. Just thinking of what kind of equipment you need for that and recording it. Would be an interesting thing to do, if it even would be possible with home equipment.. (needs a lot of power) thanks for the video!

Enclose your 3D printer, the print is most likely cooling on the outside faster, causing the bend. Every 3D print issue I ran into was due to cooling issues. Either on the plate or the main print,

Bambu A1 is about the price of the Creality Ender 3 V3 pro and is a much better unit. The A1 Mini right now on sale for $180. For the most part I don't have the patients (or the room) for the stuff you do.

Okay, now someone has to make a controller operated mount for Arduinos with some nice big motors. It can't be that hard... Probably more than getting an old motor from something else, but it would be easier to make a tutorial for people at home so they could replace with parts they had laying about. 👀

I don't have a 3D printer but I might try and use the dimensions and make the frame out of a light wood then varnish it like a balsa airplane frame.. If I could find a bunch of plastic or fiberglass I might try and use that.. I am saving up now for a Yaesu twin axis rotator and the interface box for computer control and should be able to buy that in the Spring.. The software that comes with Ham Radio Deluxe has Sat tracking and frequency shifting for my FT-847 for the VHF/UHF ones but I will have to invest time and get a USB SDR dongle and that software to do the microwave birds.. I have an old sat TV dish I might try and stick a piece of plastic pipe on and wind a helical antenna for that.. My son is also a ham and does SDR so he might be teaching me soon.. Got 4 months of Ohio bad weather to do the Franken-ham stuff so thanks for doing the proof of concept and making it easy for my old arse..

Get a Bambu printer, your failures will almost disappear! I haven't even looked at my Ender since getting a X1C even my wife can use it easily. She's been printing more than me lately 😮 you don't need a X series get a Slinger if that's all you can afford it will still be 1000% better than a Ender.

looks like ur bed isnt hot enough.(i run my ender 3 bed at 70c) also if ur printing room is getting cold you need to put ur 3d printer in a container of some sort to raise the temp. when its printing in the cold the cooling of the plastic will warp it enough to pull it off the bed.

Can't you get a 2x6 piece of wood and remove that dish off of that tracker? Mount the 2x6 to the tracker and then put the satellite dishes next to each other, one on each side so you can now have both track at the same time
