there's something so satisfying about watching at sea refueling, particularly in weather like this. it's just pure seamanship

30 years ago I worked my way from Tromso to Spitsbergen on a cargo ship replenishing fishing boats. Travelling alone opens many doors. Greeting from Australia.

I see this ship often in Loch Striven. It’s HUGE! It’s amazing seeing those waves over the bow. I missed an opportunity in life…

Would have been great with sound. Those bilge pumps are working overtime. Hard conditions to work in with how cold, wet, and snowy it was. Keep up the great work. USUK.

Why no RAS Station on port front side
@henryvagincourt45022 жыл бұрын
Due to the Crane mainly operating port, there is a forth RAS rig astern, I assume Tidesurge can tow the ship being replenished, as RFA's could in my day.
@cameronross59702 жыл бұрын
The new Tide class are built to support the new carriers. The carriers have two fuel receiving bays on their Port side and one on the starboard side. The usual RAS manoeuvre has the carrier steaming along and the RFA approaches on her Port side. Therefore no need for an additional rig Port Side forward, on the Tidesurge

I'm fairly certain I've seen duel RAS involving Tidespring, If memory serves it was QE and a Dutch frigate being served at the same time.
