There is one book above all others this year that you’ve recommended to me most, along with two of my IRL friends recommending to me on the same day. So in this video, I decided to read it and see if your recommendation was spot on… or not! #readingvlog #bookrecommendations #booktube

Awwww thanks Natalie. I’ll do a garden tour or two next year I think. Oddly, considering it’s my favourite season, we’ve not cracked the autumnal garden look yet.

Yes, more of these please! Lessons in Chemistry was a 4 star read for me. I was surprised by the dark bits and I thought it was a far more complicated story than the blurbs would suggest but in the end that she didn’t quite pull it off. Still I will definitely read more by her. Have you seen the US cover? It’s quite different. Also Chris cracks me up, Wales is stunning and those black and white asides are a treat.

I think she pulled it off for me… yet with two characters literally having to talk through everything that had gone before, before the end. Ha. Great debut though and will definitely read more of her work. I am not a fan of the US cover either really. Though thinking about it… it’s a hard book to make a cover that covers everything that makes it. Hmmm.

I absolutely ADORED this book. The title put me off for ages, but I heard so many good things about it I caved. So glad I did. Such an emotional rollercoaster. The perfect balance of light and dark.

Random fact for you...I thought my Mum invented eggy bread when I was a child. I only ever had savoury with ketchup and noone else I knew had it when I was growing up! Try it with mushrooms, red onion and melted cheese between 2 slices...game changer! Eggy bread with ketchup is elite.

Loved your vlog but not the book 🙂 Some of the writing was creative and clever, the story itself is absorbing. I particularly enjoyed the scenes with six-thirty, the dog. But, there are no shades of grey - every man is sexist and misogynistic, it becomes werrisome when there are no nuances. I found I didn't bond or care about any of the characters so not a recommendation from me.
@SavidgeReads
@SavidgeReads Жыл бұрын
I think at the time, as I mentioned most men were sexist and that did bother me at first but then a couple of the male characters change that. And don’t tell me you didn’t love Harriet and Six Thirty, how could you not!
