Saving a 1991 Honda Cub EZ90 | Part 1 | DIY Dirt Bike Restoration Project / Honda Dirt Bike Build

Phewwwww its been a while!! Better late than never I guess :D
In today's episode we are introducing a new project to the channel (I know I dont need another one haha). This is my 1991 Honda EZ90 CUB!
The EZ90 Cub is a futuristic, unique, and down right wild looking dirt bike produced by Honda in the 90s. This bike was Hondas attempt to bring the new generation of riders into the hobby. The EZ90 had a push button start and a continuous variable transmission (CVT). These features made the EZ90 dirt bike much more appealing to beginner riders. With a 90cc two-stroke engine, the dirt bike was easy to handle, yet had enough power to to have fun.
This Honda Cub 90 dirt bike restoration project is not going to be an easy one and is most definitely TheBSRecord spec. Every panel on this Honda Cub EZ90 is there, but they will all need to be fixed or repaired in one way shape or form. Did I mention that I am going to try and get it legally registered and drive it on the road?!
The ultimate goal for this dirt bike is to drive it legally down the tail of the dragon at the Smoky Mountain Small Bore Rally in June. In any case, I will be documenting this dirt bike build every step of the way and I hope you all enjoy!

The Honda Cub EZ90 may not be an ae86 Trueno coupe, but it is another icon worth saving.
The Toyota Corolla ae86 project is still under way and we will be getting back into the swing of things soon. We will continue to shave the ae86 engine bay and prep the ae86 build for final assembly and paint.

The Honda cub was a baby Fat Cat. The Odyssey was a treasure at this time period as well. Why my first engine was a 163cc 5.5, love my childhood.

Parts can be had here in florida, I see them come up for sale every couple months. Personally know a guy who's got 5. Engine parts aren't crazy expensive but body work will murder your wallet.

Thanks for the info, I will have to keep a lookout for some deals. Luckily, the plastics are all there on this one. I have sourced a white rear fender and blue handle bar covers. I just need to clean them up and get them on the bike 😁 thanks for watching!

​@@TheBSRecord 🤣I have been a Honda fan since the late 90s and have had several Honda motorbikes and cars. Only the day before yesterday I became aware of this cute thing, which was probably not offered on the European market, or was successful. All the harder I would like to have one today, because I can imagine that you have to grin permanently when you look at it and drive it. When I saw the conversion to a snowmobile, childhood dreams came to life in me. It's almost surreally ingenious, that's how cool it is.

@Slickhubert did you watch the mopboyz video on his ez90? There is a group in Italy that still race these bikes competitively and make a lot of replacement/ aftermarket parts for them. I got a lot of my stuff from them when rebuilding this one 👍 the ezSnow kit is a bucket list item, one of these days...maybe haha. I might have to sell my house for one though 🤣😅

@@TheBSRecord I just watched the video but could not find the reference to the source in Italy. The only ad I found in Europe was for a Cub in Paris for over 9k EUR, which is crazy. Maybe you can help me with the source in Italy. Otherwise I saw a funny and very well produced video by "Alberto Huober (Cub Calling)". It's just too funny. Bro is that road legal...? Actually what was the purpose of this bike.

Yes sir! It was meant to be an offroad dirtbike for kids getting into the hobby. The were all sold with a certficate of origin and the VIN was classified as "offroad use only". Luckily, i added all the road legal items (headlight, turnsignals, horn, etc.) and went through Vermont to get it registered and plated. The ez90 has a cvt transmission and a chain driven final gear, so no need to shift gears. It also has a push to start button!
