We're thankful that there are guys like you who are still finding vintage Detroit Iron even in 2023 Silas. Some may not be saved because of them sitting out in the elements for years but they can donate parts that'll keep others like them on the road.

A friend had one of those Gold Dusters and Feather Duster too. The '63 is pretty cool, so is that red Ford. Never knew that about the Ford beds. I had a '66 3/4 ton 4x4 the same color that came from an Ohio farm. Used it for a work truck for years until the motor finally blew up and sold the truck for parts. Wish I still had it. One of these I'll probably buy something whole from you, you get all the cool old stuff, not much of that up here in the rust belt.

I'm not really a Mopar guy, but i remember those Gold Dusters when they were new. The real odd thing was the vinyl top they all had, you can see the trim on the roof for it yet on the one you have. It was gold colored alligator skin. Honest. And I'm old enough to remember the jingle they used for it in their ads. Here I go (spoken by a guy with a baritone voice like CW McCall) "It's got a vinyl top that's right in style, looks like in came off a gold reptile, you can have all this and lots more too, when your buy Plymouth Gold Duster, '72"

With all the interest in nostalgia hot rods and gassers, those early Olds and Pontiac rears have a market. If a guy is doing a period correct car they use them. Especially the Olds, since Pontiac went to Wide Track in 59, and they are a lot wider. My favorite of course that 38 Chevy 1/2 ton!

Love seeing that you are giving a lot of these older cars and trucks another chance at life!! If they are not restorable they could still be used as "yard art", or have many salvagable parts that will only become rarer with time!! Compared with many old rusted out New England vehicles, many of your old pieces of iron look very solid!

The red Ford is actually a 1963. In 61-62 Ford was building the Unibody pickups. But there were a lot of complaints about them, so Ford went back to the separate cab and bed in 63, but they just used the old 57-60 beds until they retooled and made a matching bed for 1964. Now, there's some variables though, in 61-62 you could still get a stepside truck with the separate cab and bed, or a flat bed, cab and chassis, etc, so that's why they're not really rare to see. Then of course as years have gone by, people put the 64-66 beds on the earlier trucks, making it more difficult to figure out. But originally 1963 was the only year Ford made the trucks with the "wrong bed".
