A few things. I’m 48. I miss my grandparents and I know I don’t have much time left with my mom and dad. I’m going to miss both of them immensely. I’m happy that this girl spent some time with her gramps - distracted or not - I think that he accepted getting some time was better than no time. We can all do better. I know I can.

Even grownups are guilty as this teenager! So easy to forget the simplicity life offers if we just "look up" and enjoy the precious moments we have with loved ones. No one knows the future, so let's give our all to what matters most! Well done Tolu, Harold, Jessica and the team.

Also, the devices addiction would be almost comical, were it not so tragic. A great portrayal of the absurdity of the old Nokia’s motto “connecting people”. Never in the history have people been so disconnected from people beside them as they are today in the age of supposedly limitless connection. It’s absurd living a life when even living life has to have an abbreviation (irl). Rofl....not.
@donmiller2908

It is what it is. My father hated my obsession with rock and roll. Now there is the internet and the "Information Age". Every generation has their own "thing". "Never in the history have people been so disconnected from people beside them" It's always been that way, just more subtle in the past. When we're young, we tend to gravitate towards those people who are our age and share our values/and or influence us. The internet merely allowed us to find those people faster.

@@donmiller2908 I'm sorry, but I must disagree. The disconnect between humans these days is unprecedented and cannot simply be lumped in with generation gaps. Most adults and kids today have a hard time communicating face to face and experiencing life live, in real time. Of course the internet can be Very useful for many reasons, but the 'new' technology is greatly abused...for the wrong reasons.
@donmiller2908
@donmiller2908 Жыл бұрын
@@6XXBANSHEEXX8 - I showed your comment to my wife and we discussed it. I'm now of the opinion that you're correct. We've noticed that among young people for the most part, they are almost totally devoid of social skills. We've noticed that in waiting areas, like doctor's offices or airports, older people will converse with each other but younger people stare at their phones. Even in groups, like at a Mall for example, young people that obviously know each other will travel in a group from store to store but their eyes are fixated on their phones. Once you see this you can't unsee it, like a group of eight at the same table in a restaurant, but instead of talking to each other they look at their phones. It appears that the rise of the internet has been to the detriment of the art of conversation and the act of bonding on a human level.

And here's the deal - PARENTS (for the most part) are the ones buying their kids electronics/technology without any rules/boundaries/guidelines for use... so all ya'll say how infuriating/rude/addicted this teen is - she is only what she is because her parents have raised her to be that way!

Very true. People stick iPads in the hands of their toddler because they can't be bothered to raise their own kids, and then wonder why the kids do everything online. If you want your child to enjoy being out in nature, you need to instil that in them at an early age. You can't let them raise themselves online and then be surprised that they don't see the beauty in a pretty landscape, why would they?

Born in 1960. One 'ground line' phone in house. (Note: I still have a ground line., which is "Too old fashioned " for many). Technology was happening then, but still in it's infancy. One TV.= 3 channels. Most shows were still in B/W. No cellphones. We wrote letters and mailed them. Pen Pals was a thing. Diaries, with a tiny little key to lock it. Stationary, was very popular, actually very beatiful. My Mom had lots of stationary. Real pictures! 3x5 was the standard. Photo Albums were popular as well. Can't find them anymore...barely. ~ I am grateful for the time I was born. The generations now will not know what we experienced. This I know, we did lose human to human interaction, I assume you must notice this. I will say, the cell phone for billions, is an addiction. If the grid went down? People would lose their minds. ~ I commend anyone, who can exist without technology and live like this Grandpa did. ~ This Movie was aesthetically stunning beatiful. I LOVED his home. ~
