My black and orange Koi, named him Sarge…. He recently jumped out of the pond and finally rested about 6 feet away. I have no idea how long he had been out of the water, he was covered in soil from the garden bed. I was about to toss him into the pond behind my house as a farewell, but I saw his gill move and I immediately put him back in my pond and started cleaning him, rubbing him… within a couple hours he started regaining movement in his fins, eyes, he was breathing. But 24 hours later, he’s very lethargic, kind of bumping around and not reacting much to his environment. Initially after I cleaned him off and let him relax in the after he was laying on his side and not able to keep himself upright. But now he’s floating normally, but still just not moving a lot. Which is not like him, he’s the most active out of the three I have. I’m not sure what to do either( I feel helpless like you do and I want to do more I just don’t know what I can do. I did install an aerator since I kinda felt the oxygen levels weren’t the best. But it’s tough watching him struggle and I feel bad since they depend on me to keep them healthy.

Always separate a koi that is in distress as they may contaminate the rest of the fish. If the fish can eat try Romet pellets and keep it in a salt bath for a few days.It's also a good thing to use Prazi once a year to keep the parasites in check. Man braddah, this sucks, but it looks like maybe kidney failure... Koi are super hardy, but any sudden change can bring this stuff out. Seemingly perfectly healthy, but something wasn't.... it's unfortunate, but it happens. Thanks for trying to keep him going, but probably best to give him some clove oil instead of salt and he will go to sleep for good.

I'd probably move him out just in case whatever is going on doesn't spread to the others. Put him in a different tank and keep doing ur salt also.

You have quite a few fish in their. Fitzs is acting like he's not getting enough oxygen. You need to quickly get more air in that pond
@HaYNFishKeeper2 жыл бұрын
Oh it has a lot of oxygen trust me it’s just him, all the other are perfectly fine I’ve added aeration on top of the waterfall spillway, it isn’t that warm here yet

Your pond might be too cold and is costing your koi into shock. You need to add a few gallons of hot water. Or you might want to remove the tarp to keep your water warmer for more sunlight

@HaYNFishKeeper2 жыл бұрын
Oh the parameters are spot on…. Water changes everyday fresh water it’s not that… if that was the case more fish would be acting the same way trust me… I feel it’s some type of bacteria my buddy is suppose to bring a microscope and we’ll scrape him see if we see anything!!🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

@@HaYNFishKeeper ok nice if its flukes they love to live in the subrate of the filter and in the algea be good to dose the pond with fluke M. Buy a cheap scale at Wal-Mart. Fluke m has to be weighed in grams.

Why are you posting something like this? It is not helpful.
@HaYNFishKeeper Жыл бұрын
Because I’m transparent and I keep it real, fish keeping isn’t always so perfect things happen in the hobby I like to post the good, bad and ugly. Most content creators don’t do that they just show you the good… this is the reason why I posted this.🤙🏽♥️💯
