I buy these at estate sales when I find them. Clean with Dawn. Fast wire wheel the tips (rust off). 3-in-1 oil on the shank and Armor All the plastic handles. Takes minutes to do.

@@TheEclecticHandyman So far I have collected 61 of the red soft handle Pro versions and 19 of the black hard Pro handle ones.
@TheEclecticHandyman2 ай бұрын
@@branned Wow that's a comprehensive collection! Restoring to sell, collect, or do you use them regularly? I also like the red versions and they made a lot more variety of that type.

@@TheEclecticHandyman I save them. I do not sell them. My original 12 Red Soft handles came from me ordering thru the old Craftsman Tool catalog and WF engraved my name on them. I also ordered two more sets for my kids with their names on them. My young dau at the time was like what.....🤦♀🤦♀

@@TheEclecticHandyman I have a few modern red soft Snap-on screwdrivers that I think they just copied the old Craftsman Pro versions.

Why didn't you tape them?
@TheEclecticHandyman2 ай бұрын
This is a GREAT suggestion, and wish I had thought of that prior. Could use some electrical tape and mask off the area exactly. I'll have to give that a try on one of my other older screwdrivers. Thanks for watching! 🛠

Use evaporust gel and a small model paint brush to get it exactly where you want it and keep it off what you don't.

This is another great tip with the gel/brush appreciate it, thanks for watching! 🛠

Having a set of screwdrivers in the house and garage comes in handy. I remember you using the Evapo Rust on the black oxide tools and it turning them. You will have to buy a case now to hold your screw drivers once you get them cleaned up. This has been a good teaching lesson on what to use and what not to use on cleaning tools. They look nice now.

Yeah that Evapo-Rust mishap has happened a couple of. Time unfortunately 😅 These came out much better than I expected and happy to have the extras to use. Thanks for watching Rita! 🛠️

You could try cold blueing if you want to make them black again. Not sure how well it would match the black oxide remaining on the shanks though.
