The man's a legend, you might recognize his products from his trademark laughing skull glyph, or even his extensive line of survival knives. As Rachael Pointed out, he had his own TV show for a bit (which as you can probably tell from this comparably short video, was like HBO dialed to 11), and he also wrote 'the' guidebook for navigating the world's hot spots. He's the most American American to ever be born in Canada.

This is the unfortunate reality about why so many African nations are caught in tremendous strife. It's a state of constant instability as one power-hungry leader or group tries to wage war for personal gain and valuable resources, and the people are always having to rebuild their lives because of these conflicts. It saddens me because I was elated for South Sudan when they gained independence and hoped that they could have a unified country free from Northern oppression and corruption. Now it seems that nothing has changed except the corrupt officials in power. God bless South Sudan and all of its African neighbors.

Most of Africa has wealth national wealth and because of corruption and bad mined attitude of Africa as well as the Caribbean political leaders these regions will continue to be poor and broken black people are their worst enemy, they keep electing people who they like or who are from their own tribe and not competent individuals that can get the job done, black people are too emotional and less logical.

Never the country that is fighting fault - always Europe. So is it beyond the wit of these countries to draw new lines and not kill each other?
@mikejones6386 жыл бұрын
Yep, created a lot of unnecessary strife all over the continent. People that had no historical or cultural affiliations were forced into contraptions that left them at odds, while external forces did all they could to maintain these countries, usually by supporting one side or the other. Ultimately, the Africans have to sort themselves out. The organic evolution of country/states with willing members has to occur, sometimes painfully and slowly.

And no one has ever had the sense since colonialism ended to redraw borders...especially since there’s a civil war every 15 minutes. Africa has a massive amount of potential yet lack of educated people continue to haunt the continent. The rich who receive adequate education end up leaving to become doctors and such in Europe and the Americas because there is no way to make money in their native land. A proper educational system would completely change Africa. The money is there to build it, but corrupt politicians keep the money amongst themselves and it never is seen by the people. Everyone is commenting saying religion is causing this violence and while that is part of the problem it is not the sole reason. If people actually understood their religion they wouldn't go around killing people just because they're not of the same set of beliefs. That goes back to being uneducated. They don't actually know what they believe in, they just think they need to rid of anyone who isn't the same because someone of higher social ranking says so. They're vulnerable and will do anything in an attempt to please superiors so they can rise up the ranks in these militias, because that's the only way to become successful in life it seems. Without an education there is almost nothing else they can do. It's nearly impossible to get a good job in America without even a college degree, let alone not even having a basic primary schooling education. Africa has everything they need at their disposal (resources, people, land, etc.) and can fix itself without the help of foreign governments, they just need to use the right tools. That tool is education.

When I was in the Army, our battalion was being considered for a deployment there. I'd already deployed to Iraq twice (to fight a war I didn't agree with), and looked forward to deploying to Sudan and smoking some slavers (an operation I would have agreed with). Oh please conflict in Africa is as natural as sleep, to truly rid South Sudan's problems you would need to unite all of tbe groups within Africa and that is seemingly impossible if they are left to their own devices.

Nuer versus Dinka, it's like York versus Lancaster from the 1400s. Africa is just 600 years behind the rest of the world.

Apparently not- Ukraine for one example.
@jonasga10 жыл бұрын
Yea, not sure when the last time violence on this scale happened in Ukraine for this long. I'd actually put my money on not in quite a few centuries. Ukraine saw some heavy defensive fighting in WWII, but it was mostly the German's fault and it was three years, not three hundred.

And yet here we are, a year after this comment was made, with a president who doesn't want to leave office, pestilence ravaging the land, rising tension between social groups, and *lots* of guns. Many steps away now seem like only a few degrees difference between the US of last year and a similar place as this.

was it just me or did it seem like the journalists/filmmakers were mocking Machot at times and otherwise being consistently callous and totally unsympathetic to what he must have been going through - laughing at him, condescendingly telling him he can't control his anger in the middle of his own war torn country, mocking his hopes to 'save south sudan' on the boat at the end...yeah they nailed it in the beginning just the latest in a long line of crazy white men. it didn't seem like there was any respect towards the situation from them. it was like they were bored on their war zone safari.

@user-kd7kr1zu8x6 жыл бұрын
Africa is too tribal for traditional western democracy, you need a monarchy or dictatorship from the smallest minority that preserves everybody’s rights and safety and ensure somewhat of economic growth and a road to prosperity with medium to little corruption, once educated, the future generations will get over tribalism, it happened 1200 years ago in Europe and can happen there too. Best of luck to everybody!
@droidroot22736 жыл бұрын
Yeah dictators like Idi Amin, Mobutu Sese Seko, Sani Abacha, and Yahya Jammeh sure lead Africa to prosperity
@user-kd7kr1zu8x6 жыл бұрын
it's funny you mentioned that, maybe because half of the current African dictators came to power through elections at one point, while the rest had a coup against a former dictator that also came to power through elections. You see a pattern here?! cuz i do

the basic problem here, as with Africa as a whole, is that they have formed these huge states with vast territories and many nations within them. This is an inheritance of colonialism which they need to get rid of. They need to split up into nation states. The Nuer should have their own country, the Dinka their own and so on, all the nations need to have independance like they did in pre colonial times.
@scimatarpictures8 жыл бұрын
Exactly right, same can be said for much of the middle east, sunnis shias kurds yazids berbers etc, the west carved up the rest of the world and they still live in those constraints
@wanghaifeng79986 жыл бұрын
Ya Maniki Could be a posibility but there is strength in unity. What stops these states from warring with each other once they have been established, not even considering who gets to decide on the geographical splits that will affect the attainment of resources for these governments.
@erimbesok91006 жыл бұрын
Sooo....exact the same thing with the USA? huge state with vast territory ✅ many nations within✅ colonialism✅ Like Israel, whole Africa and many many other Western countries Yes, you are right, but Africa needs more time to get to same level like Western civilized first world countries.
