Hey Jake, big fan in Boone, NC. I appreciate all your podcasts throughout the year. I listen to almost all of them. This past weekend was the hardest weekend of my life. The devastation is unimaginable. My power came on around 7:30 on Monday for the first time since last Thursday evening. Checking the scores of today's games was the first thing I did. I literally cried when I saw the boys made it. It was small, but huge for me in a weekend that has been so hard. Even if they don't do much in the playoffs, I'm sure the clinch helped all us Braves fans in the damage zone. Thanks for giving us a shout out. I, and I know others will be listening for a bit of a life break for at least a few more days. Go Braves! LFG!

Jake your right, thats what it all comes down to for me each year...i just hate when the season is over...making the postseason has made my week, i know i get a little more baseball...may sound stupid, but Braves games have helped me through some dark times...so each night i get to see our Braves play, is always a plus for me...i generally discuss the technical parts of whatever happened in each previous game on here in my comments, but this is just real truth, i like it when my Braves are playing...Been watching them since the early 80's. The fact that the Braves even sniffed the playoffs this year is incredible. I can't believe we're not the talk of the baseball world. This was Snitkers and AA's best job this season. No other team could've taken the injuries that we have and finish about.500
@stevekarp35213 ай бұрын
Even crazier, they did much better than about .500. They finished this year, a year where they lost Strider and Acuña in the first half, and went significant stretches without Ozzie, Harris, Riley, Lopez, and Murphy, and still went 16 games over .500 (.549). I honestly don't think another team in baseball could have done this.

I told everyone early in the month that my best memories of the Braves were the 1991, 1993 type races that came down to the wire. How I remember those the best, and that this team could be a great memory. Without a lot of our regulars this team went from last Monday with Braves needing to go 5 and 2 against good teams to get into the players. All the while the Mets couldn't win more than 2. All that happened. I think this will be the season that 20 years from now people will talk about.

That said, man, do we need Sale to be ready for one of these games.

I posted in your x feed, I did not like the idea of Schellenbach starting the 8th inning. I have seen a few times Jimenez and Iglesias fail when rushed in as they were yesterday. In my book that would have been a 2 innings save for Iglesias. But it was what it was.
@NancyZ10133 ай бұрын
Agree completely with Jake about that first game. I too didn’t want Ozzie in second spot but what he did both offensively and defensively was great. Such a let down to have Lindor be the MVP of the game. I am happy we’re in but the bullpen imploding was disastrous. Now with Sale being hurt is so like the bad luck this team has had all year. I know Jake said the Mets didn’t want the Padres, but I wanted them. Doesn’t anyone remember how the Brewers embarrassed us at Truist Park. They scored over 30 runs against us. The Mets had a tough time with them when they weren’t trying to win. Anyway, momentum is the next day’s pitcher. That does not bode well for us if Sale doesn’t go tomorrow but every time I count them out they surprise me. I hope I continue to be happily surprised.

I think if you're the type of Braves fan that watches most games, and you have done so for the last 5-7 years, you were thinking the same thing. I know I certainly was. We know what Ozzie is. He can be anywhere from below average to borderline all-star. Truth be told, since he's come back, he's looked pretty bad batting R/R. I love Ozzie, I'm sure you do too. But had Whit not had a broken foot, I would have rather seen him. That said, I'm glad we were proved wrong as Ozzie stepped up, big time.

I would be shocked if Sale isn't injured. Sale was their ace this year, and the 2nd game today was a do or die game for the Braves.
@makeyourlifeeasier57943 ай бұрын
I find that hard to believe, considering they didn't start him in a season ending must win game...but I hope you're right.
@zanti41323 ай бұрын
*Maybe* there is some gamesmanship going on. For game 2 of the doubleheader, it's possible Snitker decided to start a lesser pitcher, figuring the Mets would be less motivated to win that game after clinching a playoff spot. Starting Sale certainly would have created havoc with the rotation for the WC series, so roll the dice and save Sale. Is it possible a false injury report has been circulated? Won't it be a stunning jolt to the opposition if Sale appears on the mound for game 1?!

If I was the Braves I would not carry Holmes as he pitched today, not carry Morton as he pitched Sunday, and not carry Jackson. I would carry John Brebbia and AJ Smith-Shawyer and maybe a 3rd relief type pitcher. Braves could easily put someone like Austin Riley onto the 60 day injured list fill up a spot and purchase a contract from triple a. You can make a move after each series if needed; so you could add Holmes back if you advance

@@WilliamSchlegel-s7t who is talking about injuries and the Phillies ?? I am talking about the fact that they got in because basically they were handed the game by playing against a B squad team with some reinforcements.They couldn't finish it against the Royals, they lost game 1 against the Mets. Had the Mets needed a sweep the story may have been different.

Bro tbh, I’ve been watching the pod for two years, you are absolutely the most critical, most complaining fan I’ve ever come across. You have a habit of, when giving a compliment, you can never just leave it at that, you always follow up with, SOME type of negative whether it’s genuinely constructive criticism or not. Are you a Capricorn?

Arcia has to go.
@benjaminwatlers18483 ай бұрын
Who would you get? They are not going pay for Willy Adames; they are not going trade for Bo Bichette. Nancho Alvarez was not the answer. The Braves like Arcia for 3 reasons 01. He plays good defense 02. He is cheap and has a little pop 03. He is good in the clubhouse. If the Braves have money to spend this off season they will most likely go after pitching. The only way I see them going after a shortstop would be if they could package Soler in some kind of trade for one back freeing up payroll. Love Soler back he is a DH and Ozuna is a lot better than him
@eros5873 ай бұрын
If Sale is not available today you need someone capable of giving you 7 innings at least (and they don't have one available), the whole bullpen has been used heavily in the last 2 days. AJ Smith-Shawver to me is the most logical option but the first game is looking awfully bad for the Braves with no clear starting pitcher, a taxed bullpen, a lineup that played 3 games in two days and the travel to San Diego. All my money on the Padres for game one.
