Two big milestones: the speech and from here you start reassembly. That tone ring installation went super smooth.

I was very grateful for how smooth the tone ring did go. Feels much better knowing something as important as the tone ring is prestine. Not too interested in being proud of one that is "ok". lol Watching the Trump speech right now. Anyone else???

Just a heads up we use all torque to yield bolts in marine diesel applications from 11 to 32 liters. Hp ranges from 715- 2600hp. Head bolts, rod bolts main bolts and so on. We measure and reuse all of the above bolts. This is right from the manufacturers service guide. I personally would measure and reuse all of those bolts. I am not actually sure if our bolts are considered torque to yield but we have all considered them to be that because we torque turn every one. Our head bolts are 160ft lbs then 3 90s our mains are 250ft lbs and a 90. Hope that helps you make your decision. You are 100 percent right! Only touch what you see is wrong. There is to many variables that will get thrown in if you start over.

Not sure how many times I read that James,, a couple. Thank you for the insight. I have been measuring all these bolts and none of them are precise AT ALL!!! There close,, but as of now,, I’m just studying the ones I see. Not much info to be had online for actual lengths. Or even how many .00?’s the range is for good/bad. So I’m just studying…. lol. Glad you are here!!!!

Hey Anthony I have a question that can help me out if you have any insight ........ I remember you using the ultrasonic for wiring harnesses Did that work out ok and what did use in the tank ......we are about do do up a bunch or harnesses for our current build and I can cut out lots of time if use my ultrasonic but don't want to induce any corrosion or issues with these perfect but dirty sets we have from a perfect un cut 1991 Mike OKC 6.4

I love our excursion !! Depending on what you are towing, it does ok.. I was a white knuckle ride when I pulled our first 30 ft travel trailer !!

Old Volkswagen tip for installing gears that needed to be heated. Pan with cooking oil in it on a single 110v hot plate. Let 'er simmer a bit. Gets the whole part up to a uniform temp. Slides right on.
@AnthonyYoungblood6 ай бұрын
Good point,,, I have seen that with bearings that need pressed on. I considered using an oven to heat the ring uniformly,, but I decided to see how it worked without anything special. Just heat er up and see if she goes on???

The new shop looks awesome!!! Appears to be heated and cooled?!

We use a propane BBQ when we need uniformed heat for bigger parts when the turbo torch doesn't work out.
@AnthonyYoungblood6 ай бұрын
I agree,, that or an actual propane stove??? I have wanted one available for a long time to bake the heated parts paint on. Exhaust manifolds, turbo housings, pedestals, and whatever else I can't think of..

That tone ring was the same temp im betting. Infared cameras will not show the proper temp on shiny metallic surfaces.

It sure went on like the temp was good!!!
