A love how ambiguous this game is, yet I am at all times perfectly following the story. Like Lana and Elo being two boys and/or girls that are siblings/friends/lovers; no idea, I understand exactly, though.

They literally meet in front of their parents' graves, it's pretty clear that they're sisters.

@@kates9231 They mourn dead people in front of two distinct graves. Their language has strong similarities to japanese at times; these are the family graves of two families that were close. Clearly they both lost their respective parents, so Elo acts as the cooler older sister/surrogate 'tough mom' to a more timid younger brother with Lana; reversing typical gender roles. Or they're both guys. Or girls. Or Elo is male and Lana is female. Whatever makes more sense in your head. I read them as best friends who have no other close people in their entire world; in the end they are reunited with a third member of their new family, possibly as an early surrogate child. My point being, I'm never quite sure, but the emotional attachment works either way and there's no part that takes you out of it by definitively going against interpretation.

What I get from the story is that a while ago people used the spaceship to go to an unknown galaxy they think is inhabitable, but it isn't and they die due to some accident. the robot's programming at the time was to take humans to the galaxy, but since they don't have supervision they corrupt a little and start taking people by force, and to find the ceggs they capture and grind the wildlife so they're easier to find. the music is a type of signal, just produced through sound waves instead of radio waves that the machines use to communicate and as a type of override. The main thing is the mother ship, which was most likely the ship they used to get to the other galaxy because of the inhabited pods they used to capture people. This is just my take though, and I'm dumb so I might be wrong XD

I wonder. Could the different songs used to command the machines between the mothership and the protagonist be a built in differentiator between if an AI or a person is in control? Another thing I've been piecing together is that, through the hints the game gives us about it's lore, I'm thinking the mothership may be some kind of rogue colonization project that, without any humans for some reason, went about it's programming attempting to colonize a place anyways, and when it found humans, it automatically took them in as inhabitants instead of beings to be grinded down into nutrient slop like most of the planet's fauna.
