Steve Austin actually thanks savio vega in several interviews I've seen. He comments that him and savio were booked for months when he arrived in WWE/WWF at the time. And savio got him in shape because steve had really never worked with a worker like savio. He said that after a few weeks , savio whipped him into shape and they started having great matches. So yes, steve gives savio alot of credit for his early success. And also his tryout match for vince was with savio as well. So like savio said in this interview, they were pretty much married for a while.

WWE messed up with Savio Vega on several occasions. He should've got the crown in 1995, should've got the IC Strap against Goldust at least once, and should've lasted longer than 1998.
