The play was to Vilespine the Cube while the board was full, then leave the board as full as possible, tank the one turn, then kill the hadronox, then clear. His deck then has nothing left and no remaining hadronox to cube. The way you beat taunt druid is killing the hadronox while the board is full

Counters to Hydronox Druid (none 100% effective): Warrior -- Cornered Sentry + Spellbreaker Shaman -- Hex + Spellbreaker, Shudderwock spam Rogue -- be Savjz (otherwise none) Paladin -- none Hunter -- none Druid -- none (Spreading Plague + Strongshell Scavenger + Spellbreaker + Deathwing?) Warlock -- Cataclysm + Spellbreaker +Deathwing + Twisting Nether (+ quest!) Mage -- Polymorph + Spellbreaker, infinite Fireballs Priest -- Psychic Scream + Mind Control (+any Silence) + Mind Games? All classes -- Tinkmaster Overspark (to give a 1/1 or 5/5 beast and sabotage) When 3 classes have basically no answer except to aggro and hope for the best, it's no wonder that some players will play Hydronox Druid -- they are abstractly on a 66% win ratio and will only move toward 50% due to RNG. (It's actually 4 classes, when matching against a Druid that isn't Hydronox Druid -- a 77% win ratio.) All of the Rogue, Paladin, and Hunter decks are forced to be hyper-aggressive builds just in case of this one match-up... it's paralyzing to creativity for those players, as all of those classes can play the long game otherwise (except maybe Rogue due to healing problems). I'm hoping that in the next set, we get a neutral minion in the vein of Cornered Sentry that can give Druid at least 1 beast minion. Alternatively, I wouldn't mind if in the next patch the 2/1 minion created by Marsh Drake is changed so that it's a beast. Either would work to reign in Hydronox decks, since they could always be hated out of the meta if they became too popular. Alternately, Hydronox could be unflagged as a beast. Druids would still have the means to get up to 9 Hydronox per game (instead of the 11 they can get now), but would have to play around silence effects instead of just playing everything from hand so that it can't be countered. This would also create a weakness to Vanish, which is good since Rogue really cannot play the long game against this deck at all (without serious luck). ... And I just thought of another counter for Warlock -- Treachery, to hand Druid a small beast.

william cothrum none of them run weapon removal because skull in warlock is dead or sees no play and paladin is easily countered by the taunts hence their weapons also do nothing

I don't see the point in having 1 of each when he could have 2 Spectral Cutlasses instead. It eliminates the problem with losing 1. Cavern Shinyfinder just ends up being either a dead card or a vanilla 3/1.

Rogues always run sap, how is that a tech card? How is that counter play when savjz high-rolled rng by getting hadronox, and endless supply of 2/2 treants, and his enemy low-rolling getting only golems? Is it also counterplay when enemy druid uses all his armor cards so he cant attack? Also he doesnt run two weapons because he always refreshes the duration of existing one, btw how often cavern shinyfinder is the last card in your hand? Also does "very-beatable" means going into fatique? Seems like you just wanted to bash everyone with your superior knowledge, but you just sound like twitch chat all over again, just on a high horse lmao

Even if we kept sap, not-so-brainfart hardrox player will just combo cube with 2 kind of 1mana spell to kill it right away, not giving us any chance of transform or send it to hand, that rank 2 druid player just got that rank playing tier SS deck without any skill. I personally dont think hardronox had and card that tech to it if blizzard not make it 10 mana besause you can alway kill it with naturalize.

Rogues don't always run Sap. Quest Rogue and a lot of Tempo Rogue variants (namely Keleseth and Baku) don't run the card.

Jacky Mraz umm using it on cube is the entire point. Yes, he can instant activate hadronox with cube, but by sapping the cube, you have effecrively removed 2 of the 5+ hadronoxes he was going to get. Unless they god draw or you have a weak deck vs taunt druid, the first hadronox or 2 probably isnt whats killing you. Its the constant refills. So while sap wont stop all of the hadronoxes, it will probably stop the bleeding enough for you to come back, assuming you arent 1 foot in the gravw already.
