Yeah I agree the savotta Matt is an extremely useful item. Unfortunately unless I want to strap it to the frame and have it banging the back of my head, I won't be using it with this pack although I do have the outhaus floor cover now and that fits lovely under the pack. Thanks for stopping by and commenting buddy. How are you getting on with the knives? Take it easy.

I have had this one for longer mountain-hiking. I love the simple design. I used the small zip on the back for an emergency FAK. I would consider this backpack suitable for day-hikes where you live in cabins or such as I haven't really found an optimal way to transport a tent/sleeping bag (I used paracord on the frame to secure my tent and it worked fine). The lack of hip belt was frustrating from times but it is probably easy fixed if it's too much of a problem. Savotta is a great brand and got backpacks for all needs! Jääkäri L is great for long trips! Thanks for the video, really liked it!

Hey there thanks for dropping in. I agree the pack is a solid unit. I do love it's classic looks and simple design. The cabin trail would be a perfect place for it as you said. There isn't really any specific anchoring points for Mats or bags on the frame "which I like" I don't like hanging things from any pack. I managed to store my canvas Matt just under the pack and it fits perfectly. Thanks for commenting. Have a great day.

Good review, Ste. I agree with you on the pros and cons there. It definitely needs a corded snow skirt for the side pockets and main section. The curved lower part of an external frame really hugs your lower back. This is comfy until you put on body weight and get chunky. My old Ludwig (Telemark) packs are like that. I'm not used to waist belts myself. It was probably because my old packs were designed to sit above 58 webbing, which took the strain. I find the sabre and other similar packs had too much padding (a mad claim, I know), that seemed to limit their internal volume. In Japan, my friends use external frame packs. They ditch the bag and strap large, strong, stackable, often see-through, plastic boxes to it. Not only are they filled with gear (they don't do ultra light camping), but they're used as tables and seats. Thanks for the review.
@BushcraftWithSteOutdoors11 ай бұрын
Yeah snow skirts for the side pouches would have been nice, but I'll mainly keep bottles in them anyway so not a major upset. I wish I had more knowledge on military rucksack and webbing,but I have no experience on the loadouts. I get what you mean with the sabre 45 it's is very well padded 😂 to the point when you zip the sides up you can just get your arm in there. 😂 Them guys sound mental! Good idea with the tubs though. Take it easy bud.

Hello mate. That is a good looking bag. I have to agree with you that some bags have far to much going on. You know what I'm like with bags I've had loads and again I agree with you, I'm not sure there is a perfect one at lest perfect for me. As good looking as your new bag is I couldn't be doing with it for the same reason I couldn't get on with the Frost river bag I owned. I want that on the fly shoulder adjustment. Feel free to show me what the load out for the new bag is, you know I won't complain. Be safe and be lucky mate.

Hey Wol always a pleasure my awesome friend. I know how you like your bags m8 I have a few of them 😂 my feelings tward the 339 are more positive than negative I think the pros outweigh the cons, it's definitely something I have been looking for. Just enough going on for my needs. Thanks for stopping by as always Wol. Take it easy.

@@BushcraftWithSteOutdoorsI'm surprised you never went for one of those LK35's that were all the rage a few years back. Very similar to your new bag. External framed and available in canvas I believe, what's more cheap as chips. I even saw some modded with side pockets.
@BushcraftWithSteOutdoors11 ай бұрын
Hey Wol I remember everyone jumping all over the lk35 bandwagon and I said I wouldn't 😂 I didn't want they same as everyone else. I did look at them though just to see what the fuss was about and I do notice they had no side pockets. I know you can mod them with Swedish pouches, but I couldn't be bothered with the fuss to be honest. I see them going for over £100 now! There were 2 types I believe canvas and manmade.

Would this pack pair well with a LBE rig or a Belt system...?
@BushcraftWithSteOutdoors11 ай бұрын
Hey there. I honestly wouldn't like to answer that question because I don't ware any thing like that myself. I have just had a quick look at the lbe rig and it looks to be a shoulder mount with a belt? Is that correct? The pack does sit on the lower back of your back. It could possibly work with a taller person I guess, but having 2 sets of shoulder straps could be a bit cumbersome. Thanks for the question, sorry the answer isn't much help.
@ShaneBraaten11 ай бұрын
@@BushcraftWithSteOutdoors Ah, yes. That's correct. My thoughts were replacing the shoulder straps on One of them with some thinner nylon webbing straps. I appreciate your Content good sir 💯... 💪

Morning. I just like to look after my gear and good Quality gear looks after it's self. With regular maintenance that is. When I use something which is once a week at the min "as I work alot" after use I inspect it to see if it incurred any damage I need to repair before it's put away. If it's dirty I clean it before it's put back away. My kits are usually contained in my packs for the season I'm using it. If you seen the the state of the kit after some of the camps I've been on you wouldn't be saying that then 😂 if you spend good money on good gear it pays for itself if you maintain it well. Take it easy.
