Nik, is there e GUI for Apache, like IIS for Windows?
@SavvyNik2 жыл бұрын
Traditionally no because the server itself is headless so it doesn't really support GUI applications. Although if you install the desktop version I believe there is an app called apache-gui that could do what you are asking. Most of the time everything is managed through the terminal.

hi Savvy, when i ping the ip on the desktop site, its not a reply, its a request timed out, its normally?
@SavvyNik2 жыл бұрын
This isn't normal. You need a reply otherwise the computer you are pinging with does not have access to the server / isn't on the same network as the server.

Hi Savvy, Im totally new in Linux and all the features to use with that. Im using my CentOS 8 in a virtual box, and most of the steps I was able to do. However, the IP, Im not able to make reply in a different computer or access via webpage. I dont really know, what command that I might be able to use to enable it. Any ideas?

You're saying that you can't ping your VM from other computers on your local network? Check your virtual machine settings and confirm that the network settings are correct. I suggest using a bridged adapter so that the VM gets it's own unique IP address.
@szymon986332 жыл бұрын
@@SavvyNik Hi Savvy, what if I set bridged adapter and "ifconfig" doesn't show my IP address? There is no "inet" in enp0s3.

Hi Savvy. Thanks for the videos. I need your help with an error message i am having. Tried all i could but still having "unable to connect to proxy server." i don't know if it's necessary to configure the proxy in other to use 'YUM' but however i did but still having the message.I know i am missing something somewhere. CentOS 8
@SavvyNik4 жыл бұрын
Hey dj, glad you enjoy the videos. Are you trying to use yum with a proxy? If not check your /etc/yum.conf file and make sure there's no mentions of proxies in there. If there is I would delete the entries.
@djdavjean4 жыл бұрын
@@SavvyNik Thanks for your quick response. In yum.com file there are no proxies mentioned. Well, i am trying to register to redhat site as requested so that i will be able to download packages for further intsallations with 'YUM'. I am still having error message " network error, unable to connect to server". However i can Ping to sites as "www.google.com". I hope you can help. Thanks
@SavvyNik4 жыл бұрын
@@djdavjean I'm not sure then. If you can truly ping out then there's either a miss-match in your network settings (IPv6 vs IPv4 miss-config) or the yum.conf file is corrupt. Here's a post with someone who had similar issues: forums.centos.org/viewtopic.php?t=63820

Hey Savvy. I'm new to linux. Is the above process possible if I'm simulating my linux environment inside a virtual machine running on my Windows OS ?
@SavvyNik4 жыл бұрын
Sure, there might just be some additional steps to get ports opened up between your host computer and the virtual machine. I suggest using a bridged adapter because that would make things easier if your VM has a dedicated network connection.
