Already switched to Linux 4+ years ago. When I learn 2025 Win 10 support will over, from 2020, was the best decision I made I feel the freedom I had until Windows 7 .

Bro, let me me be the one to tell you but I have literally gone through 7-10 videos on how to properly install Bottles on Linux and you are by far, the most concise, straight to the point and not filled with useless fluff that takes up 10 minutes of a video's runtime. I've been on Linux for almost 20 years and I freakin' hate 95% of the Linux tutorials on KZbin. Good job on this man.

20 years ago i personaly WROTE such thing and it's still available on Github, by monitoring KeyboardHook, and WindowHook was able to record every keystroke, mouse move, every window name class name, and it was hiding with name svhost.exe recording data into CatRoot directory and it was literally my virus. And it's detectable by every major antivirus software based on heuristic of it's behaviour. Under Vista and newer require UAC permissions. Since UI elements of IE was native i could even recognize what precisely UI element was clicked, where data was inserted, what time. Time Machine is able to record files, but never keystrokes, never browsing history. I also wrote autorunner for USB using WaitForMultipleObjects so you can detect what is insterted what penrdrive and scan files. Every Antivirus on WIndows works this way. There is also filesystem hook. You can monitor / replace file contents, keystrokes, mouse.. aint hard to do that. Actually Windows provides API since Windows 95 or 2000 To print content PrintWindow, wasn't that good as on MacOS But it's present in WIndows for 25 years

I wonder what they do with the training data, this will be sent to ms for sure after "locally" (for a while) processing it. You pay the bill they gain the training data....

PC build is going to take a BIG dig drop on customer if they force the way of Ai. If users don't want it, Then they will go for system with no NPU and low profile Mobo and AMD CPU because it better for a Linux build. Currently there's way to block Copilot and Bitlocker by going into regedit and services to block these from stealing our private data.

The Thing about hackers is yes, we'd love direct access, and recall really does provide an avenue for that. SO don't make enemies online people. If someone you pissed off or whatever online, if their not a hacker, but have $, they could hire one and yes is dependent on how motivated they are so yes typically a lot of money motivated.

I have no use for the Recall feature so I would most likely turn it off. I mostly use my laptop for photo editing with Adobe Lightroom, and the performance with the new Snapdragon CPU is amazing, compared to what I have now. I may even look into AMD as well.

Sadly, some people in my country, I'm from the Philippines, don't know there are alternative operating systems other than macos and win. They'll still be using windows 10 and mac or buy an expensive pc which only a few can afford to do that, we are still , not nearly, a developing country for 30 years.

Remember the app go back which did exactly this even lets users delete snapshots after 5 days etc. ms brought parts of this company reason for file history etc. other app do snapshots as well as a backup but costs money so ms just implemented in 11. Nobody complains on these apps and what bout time capsule which does something in a way but across devices etc. same as sync tabs passwords etc in browsers etc. think backup as a timeline but with ocr etc.

A very important info is missing. Recall only comes and works on Snapdragon CPUs. So 99% of Desktop PCs are safe for now. Still time to switch to Linux.

I’m sure you’re aware that upcoming amd laptops and intel lunar lake laptops set to arrive later this year will have this feature. Even if this info (the fact that desktop are safe for now) is missing, looking at the bigger picture it’s a moot point.

It IS a continuous monitoring system. Also, Microsoft doesn't need to syphon your data anymore: your computer will use your storage and power to analyze your information, and Microsoft simply needs the results.

This is a cycle that's been on repeat for decades now; Microsoft fucks up majorly and the Linux community swings by to take advantage of this and try to convince people into joining their ranks. No, the vast majority of users still don't give a shit about privacy, as sad as it is, and Linux is still not production ready for home users and professionals outside the realm of headless, remote servers. Stop fearmongering and trying to intimidate people into switching Linux. IT WILL NOT HAPPEN. It never did and the likelihood of it happening in the near future is also slim. When you use fear and intimidation to scare people away from Windows, they're going to loathe the Linux user base and the community around it, once -not if- their experience turns sour and they inevitably become frustrated with their computer and return to Windows, vowing never to switch to Linux again. But what do I know. Go ahead, milk it until it reaches a boiling point that either MS realizes how stupid and haphazardly put-together this whole fuckery is and calls for a 'total recall' or we'll end up witnessing heretofore unseen leaks, corporate espionage, massive scam operations, scandals and much much more. I hope, for the sake of majority of end-users, that I am wrong and people will actually start looking for alternatives to Windows, or even better, donate to & invest in free desktop and Linux, not because they are forced to evacuate Windows at the behest of Microsoft and the company's mountain of retarded decisions, but because they care about the development and philosophy of free and open source software as a whole. Let's see what we see and where this goes, shall we?

Microsoft wants users to falsely believe that if they don't have a CoPilot + PC that surely this level of surveillance couldn't possibly be running in the background without their consent. Wrong! I believe they have already been doing this with windows 10 / 8 / 7

TPU+NPU=complete 1984, congratulations MS. While I've been using AI for months now... from within my browser. When I want to. No need for a separate app. DuckDuckGo has a helpful ChatGPT for when you can't find something or need something more quickly. Very useful for finding Linux console commands, for example. I call him Al. As in that song "Don't call me Al"... ;)

Just asking about something else. A classic rumor is to use Linux to give new life to old computers. But quite a few tech youtubers have tested and pointed out that this is false and doesn't give better performance. I wonder how. Since Windows takes over 64 GB, I don't even know if that includes all the bloatware. And the amount of background applications running at the same time, looking at the task manager. Then with a distro being as small as 4GB and not having nearly as many applications to run everything. Then shouldn't a Linux distro technically run better? Since it should leave more processing and memory for your active applications? Or is that extra processing and RAM just compensating for the lack of native support of hardware and software to Linux. Making it even with Windows in many cases.

And then you get people in the comments going "SO YOU JUST HATE DISABLED PEOPLE!?!?!?" Bro, stop. Accessibility features are nice and fine, but they have to be opt-in. You wouldn't default your OS to be high-visibility mode or screenreading, would you? This isn't for disabled people. It's an invasion and a further erosion of trust.
