Saw 3 is likely my favorite. Very strong storytelling and a great exploration of Stockholm Syndrome in Amanda. She shined in this one and I’m convinced it’s why they placed Saw X right after the first to bring her back. Loved it

I honestly dislike 3 because of Jeff's tests. Like the relationship between Lynn, Amanda, and John was really great, I loved that section, but it being interrupted by Jeff letting people die really pissed me off 😂

I think Amanda's traps were probably a little more gross and gruesome because they were meant to straight up kill. No chance to escape even if the instructions are followed. Honestly, she probably got addicted to killing people, so she started straying away from John's designs that would ensure a chance at survival could be had.

I still can’t think about the hoop on the jaw. Like I’d let the bomb explode on me. It’s that freaking terrible. It’s impossible! Plus the ones on the Achilles heel would be fucked as well. Literally torture 😂

2 of the things I always think about say is the 1st one of course. The bathroom and the foot cutting and then the ribs one. The ribs got me more than the chain thing. My favorite scene that isn't a trap is the twist when it shows Hoffman helping set up the house

I watched the theatrical version this past week, and I gotta be honest I have no idea how this film got made. It’s one of the meanest and most grotesque films I’ve ever seen on a studio level. I’m not saying it couldn’t be made today, it absolutely could be, but for the budget they had and having a major studio back it is pretty cool. Obviously the some of the sequels got more violent but the tone was less serious than was here. Makes me wonder if they kept this very stark mean tone where the series would be at today.

As it was originally intended, I always see Saw III as the final movie in the original story. I just don't really care for the Hoffmann character and bringing back Gordon in the later movies. It just seems so unrealistic. Don't get me wrong, it's kind of neat how they weave all the story together, but the fact that it's so obvious that they are making it all up as they go, it just seems a little goofy.

I saw(😂) this when it came out, it's pretty fucked up. The opening especially, like you said, was tense, nasty/gory, kinda scary, that metallic score was great. It is the nastiest of the series. Great review and I'm actually anticipating SAW X. ✌.

I don't think we're supposed agree with jigs osmotives. I agree that all his motives are weak. But this isn't Jason or Freddy where you are rooting for the mascot killer. I think we are supposed to think his motives are to testable and stupid that's kind of what makes him the antagonist but maybe I'm misreading

3 felt a bit boring and frustrating to me. It couldn't keep me engaged, and I just didn't care about the doctor having to operate on John to keep him alive. Amanda got on my nerves big time in this movie. I didn't really care for this one, not the worst and far from it, just not one I'd care to watch again. The traps were gnarly and gross though, but those weren't enough for me to like it.

I'm pretty sure part 3 is the last film in this series that I actually remember. I didn't like Amanda before this one BUT I seriously hated her guts when I saw this one. I'm a total wimp so if I was put in any of these traps, I'd probably just stand there, cry & piss myself until I was finally killed!

I think part 3 might be my favorite. There's a director's cut, different from the unrated cut, that's incredibly awesome but you can only grab it on blu-ray from France. It's totally worth it in my opinion. The Saw films weren't ever incredible high art, but they were always in theaters every Halloween while I was growing up. 3-7 are complicated but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the twists and turns.

As far as the first 3 saws go,I look at this as a complete trilogy. 3 being the weakest but most brutal and nasty of them all. Saw 3 ends how I think a saw movie should stop at...which is where everyone dies,including the mastermind. And the way this movie ends is set up so beautifully. I would be fine with them stopping here because after that...not really anything important all that much...to me anyways. All I see after saw 3 is more gore, torture violence and shock value

As much as I like horror, I stopped watching these after Saw 2. For one thing, it wasn’t very good…at all. Also, I’m not into horror that’s basically all about human suffering/torture, for the sake of it. I know, there’s supposedly a story. But let’s be real, the point is essentially to gross you out/showcase cruelty. Somehow, I feel Hostel and Hostel II are less about that than the Saw movies.
