I do believe it was confirmed Hoffman is returning. If you listen at the beginning or the part where you see the bathroom from Saw 1 you hear a man say "out of the men to cheat you picked John Kramer". Sounds just like Hoffman.

I watched SAW X last night, I like all of the SAW movies. This one I think may actually be the best one and I think you will love it, John is in almost every scene and the direction they take it and I loved the ending, excited to see what you think. All the reviews are amazing, SAW is my favorite horror franchise and this one is top tier, one of the best if not the best one

There was a flashback in SAW 6 where John went to his insurance company to get assistance in a experimental procedure but was denied. He would get dropped from coverage if he went through it. He was told the dude I have money, it's about principle!

Makes sense one of John’s ideologies was ‘never take it personally’ a lesson Hoffman refused to learn. And this could be how he developed it especially since these people screwed him over.

I heard what Saw X is a prequel. About the events of what happened right after the first Saw leading up to Saw 2. I think a big reason Jigsaw/John Kramer is such a likeable character is because Tobin Bell performance.

I’m sure that its been said already in the comments since I’m 3 weeks late, but From other KZbinrs they’ve said the voice at the beginning saying “of all the mean to cheat you chose John kramer?!” That’s actually hoffman’s voice. Also, without spoiling anything, there is a part in the trailer that does spoil a death of one of the characters. Also I never believed John was a bad person. Yes he made the traps but he wanted people to appreciate life. He never wanted anyone to die. Even in this trailer you can hear him say “you will want to remain alert” and “please do t hesitate.” This, to me, shows he wants them to survive but wants them to learn that what they did was wrong and that karma can happen to anyone. In my opinion the reason John gets a bad rap is because of what Hoffman and Amanda did. They were the ones that made their traps inescapable. I’ll give Hoffman a pass for the Seth Baxter trap because of what happened with his sister but going after Jill tuck when John even left him a tape saying “you think you will walk away untested” was a bit much. He should’ve seen it coming. It’s not Jill’s fault. I also agree that there wasn’t really one bad movie but there was one part in saw the final chapter that confused me. They showed a flashback to what reviews say was a lawnmower trap between a gf and her abusive ex yet that was never shown in the movies. Every other victim at the meeting was shown in previous films. As far as dr Gordon, there’s another KZbinr that has video saying he will not return. There is speculation Adam might make an appearance or come back tho. But other than that I am so hyped for saw x

Tobin Bell is such an amazing actor and he loves the character so much , you can see ut in interviews and of course since Saw 2 he was allowed to change his script to better fit the character. Finally got watch the Guardians 3 reaction earlier this morning, and during the intro I was like “Saw trailer is out; reaction better be imminent!” And here we are. From same director, was surprised how good Saw 6 was, but 7 was… not great. This one even plot-wise looks more like 6, but with more Tobin Bell! I may well go see a Saw movie in theaters again, and I’m actually darn excited about that. (Think I’ve actually only seen 6 & 7 in theaters.)
