Great video. The loader is a veteran but it gets the job done. Take care of it and it will give you many years of service. The red oak is awesome looking!

Thanks for sharing all of your quality equipment. Every time I want you to take me back to when I used to sit in a cab eight hours a day but those edger saws just blow me away. Beautiful lumber and skill of pulling all the top grade out of those beautiful logs👍

What are the advantages/drawbacks of running a lower/upper circular sawmill, as opposed to a band mill? Also, what is your opinion of band mills that use a double-sided blade?

The machine you are using is very advanced, 99% of the work is done by the machine, unlike the wood processing we have, where almost all the work is done using human labor.
@CarrotCaptain3 ай бұрын
It's actually not as advanced as you think. He is setting the edgers without computers. Nothing is automated.

You know, just because a piece of equipment has some physical age and design restrictions does not mean that it is no longer good. When I was stationed in Germany in the 70's we were operating equipment that was made in the 40's and would out work any of the new stuff. As usual love the videos and the commentary. Say hi to your grandpa or me. Bob

I've never seen a circle mill with all those useful options! Very cool! Love those horizontal double saws! What is your ability to see actual cant size in the cab? I'm watching you make correction passes and wondering how you can saw off a 1/4" with getting out of the cab..thx
@Helmsburgsawmill3 ай бұрын
I have many different controls that I’ll explain at a certain point. I have two different size indicators that I read. The vertical edgers are one, you can kind of see it in front of my face. And then a dial on the carriage that I’m looking at. If that saws cutting right shaving a quarter inch is no problem. This won’t be the channel of me trying to figure out how to make the saw cut😂 Thank you for commenting

@user-rc9rj3vb3r3 ай бұрын
Why do you let so much wein on the boards when you edge them
@Helmsburgsawmill3 ай бұрын
Good question. The wein is actually desired. They will be milling the raw lumber down into a finished product. They grade and measure from the bad side of the board. As long as the wein doesn’t go through you’re good!
