Sawing an ugly 23 inch Beech log with crotch #40

First thing Monday morning Jason had to saw an ugly log.

I guess the cant was going to be resawn on the band mill? I find it interesting which boards go up to the edger and which ones go straight thru. Do you have a target size or is it random? Good video!

It was actually a railroad tie. We were edging the ones that weren't uniform or had to much wane or bark and they were random width. Thanks for watching

How many fbm in 8 hrs foes your mill cut. ??? What is the daily record cut number??? Im guessing 15-20,000? You do gave a double arbor edger for cant sawing?? Or you use a resaw and single edger.

17000 bdft on circle mill a long time ago. 10 to 12 average. Just a bd edger. We resaw on 2 horizontal bandmills sometimes. That can add production and save saw kerf.

I think you are referring to skate rollers at end of green chain. Yes they do help a lot. Loader picks cants up and stacks them

20 inch reach through. Logs bigger than 30 inches are really too big.

It might be ugly and unhappy on the outside, but it sure had some nice wood on the inside. Your customer should be more than happy with the outcome.
