I'm putting my new Lane Shark LS-4 Bush Cutter to the test today to see what all the hype is about. I'll also be giving my continuous flow (C-Flow) third function kit that I installed recently a good workout as I use it to power the Lane Shark. With some fresh snow on the ground and the branches beginning to overhang my trails, there's no better time than the present to put this to work! Here we go!

Probably you just need the return line to dump it to the sump. Not the valve. The same as a post pounder, no restriction on the return line , otherwise damage will occur when you turn it off.@@ada-yw1bb

Just got in and had to get to your channel, Masterpiece equipment you have now, the snow worked in your favor bringing the limbs down lower so it cut them where they would be higher up off the trail. You may get calls from your neighbors to come and cut their trails / roadways now. As I said before Awesome! Stay safe and warm we are in the teens here in N GA as is much of the country. Its a beautiful thing! Got to admit that because I am so used to a Bush hog, when you made your video on the LS4 I thought you were slightly out of season for Ontario. Then you come out and use it in winter. We have to maintain a very similar woodlot as yours and I can see the benefits of that tool. And actually using it in winter along the edges of the trails is perfect as that is when the branches come down to their lowest position. Lucky you got a cab ....thanks for sharing

Hi Yves! Yeah you're right about the ability to use it in the winter. Without that it wouldn't be nearly as helpful for me as it is. I'll be out all winter long with this as well as the summer I"m thinking. Really keep things cleared back. In the winter with the branches weighted down it allows me to see what branches are the culprits and take care of them. Hope you're enjoy the new year! See you on the next video!

Very nice. I have an inordinate amount of fence line and trails that are surrounded by trees and brush. That does indeed look like a real time saver. One thing I would do right away is put reflective safety tape on all edges of the cutter deck. Not just for the obvious, but also so there is no question where its edges are when in use.

Doing the trails for the first time takes the longest. Next year all you have to do is start at the bottom and drive up one side of the trail then back up the other side, then raise it up 3 feet ( You can go 4 feet but I think 3 feet leaves the sides cleaner ) and repeat as many times as needed.

Sandy, you answered one of my questions... the stability of the tractor with the mower offset, tilted vertical and raised to its maximum elevation. How's the stability if the tractors on a side slope, or did you encounter that? I would say to offset it when operating horizontal. That way the tractor remains on the road surface rather than the shoulder. It looks like you've got a pretty efficient new toy there, just be careful with it while you're learning to operate it. Has your tractor got hydrostatic, or manual transmission? The hydro would make it even more efficient with regard to maintaining a desired speed. OK... go clear some more roads!!

You just have to get it positioned and let the mower catch up then move into what ever you are cutting. Overall I think it's a nice setup for the average tractor. Take care my friend!!😀😀 Logger Al

Hi Robert, you're right about that. As I age I look more and more to things I can use to get my chores done easier and faster. I'll put out a video before long showing how to do the position changes specifically but it's pretty easy overall. Have to lift the loader up and tile the cutter facing downwards and then there's a few pins to adjust.

The poor man's forest mulcher! It looks for all the world like the blades on our 3 point hitch brush cutter, just attached to the front and extremely manipulatable...is that about right? I wonder if it can also cut fields like our brush cutter. I really like the idea of being able to have the cutter in front of me so I can see what I'm cutting, when to raise it up slightly due to abrupt elevation changes, etc, vs pulling it behind the tractor and bottoming out on dirt or rocks before realizing it. Might be worth selling the cutter to get one of these if it can do what you're showcasing here as well as roughly mow our fields and roads.

Hi Sandy Do you have enough oil flow?I think it is slowing down way too much to my liking if i had your model. I would assume that it need at least 60 liter a minute or 16 glm. But then if it dose the job and cut the branches nice and clean you must have a flow good enough for the machine

The Lane Shark is certainly a great piece of equipment for maintaining your trails. It will help in summer to keep the fields and edges of your trails knocked down so you have wider trails.

This looks like an implement that would work well for me. Some concern because I run a DK5310 open station. Don’t want a face full of brush. Also, I have a factory third function. Not true third function. Would this work? Thank you for the video Sandy.

As long as your factory third function is an electronic third function and not a diverter valve, it will work with the Lane Shark. You'll need to add a return hose directly to the sump of the tractor for a zero pressure return. Let us know if you have any additional questions!

Goegeous property! I am on the fence with getting a adjustable flail mower or this lane shark. I need to clear some parts of my property. I want a flail mower instead of a bush hog (cutter) to bulky for my needs . I have a wr long 3rd function already on my branson 3520. I would need to add rear remotes to run the type of flail mower i would like. Any suggestions ?

Hey there Lenny! Thanks for checking out the video. I do find this property really beautiful in the winter as well. Peaceful for sure. I'd probably want to check that the third function that's on your tractor would work with the LaneShark and then depending on that that would likely give me some direction on which route to go. One thing that drew me to this was the ability to cut way up high along the edge of my trails as most of my trail work is overhanging branches.

Hi Sandy. I'm picking up my Kioti this weekend. I too will be clearing trails. That LS4 works great. Is it really $7K? Might need to save up for it cause it's awesome.

I got the CK2620. 25 HP with the front bucket, grapple and backhoe. Love it so far. Gets lots of use on our new 66 acres wooded lot.

I saw a few comments on having enough flow but I was wondering with that hst if the tractor got warmer than normal or if it felt like it was slowing the tractor down? Thanks for the video

Hi Sandy. Is there my reason that you could not run this implement from a rear hydraulic port the same as you do for a backhoe? Do you have to use the third function valve? I have a kioti ck3510. Just wondering if that is enough tractor for the lane shark. Thanks, Charlie. P.S. , I enjoy your videos, keep up the good work.

Hi Charles, I'm not 100% sure on this one unfortunately. I'd have to double-check with LaneShark for options here. I appreciate you checking out all the videos each week! Have a great rest of your day!

Charles, we previously have used rear remotes (separate from the BH connections) but ran into too many issues with the possibility of losing loader functionality. The third function route, if plumbed properly, alleviates that issue. Let us know if you have any additional questions!
