1310 kg Golf 105 PS DSG takes 11.6 secs 1480 kg Astra 110 PS takes 12 secs So its not so bad think clever /watch?v=EBLjj5apwq0 dont trust advertised golf times here is GPS verified times

Yeah Vauxhall motors Still sound Grumbly compared to my 2014 Volvo V40(D2) R-Design Lux 1.6D (115bhp) motor, its averaging 60mpg, (motor still tight with 8000mls)' but it's no slouch either.. it pulls as good as my old 2011 Scirocco GT 2.0TDi (140Bhp) averaged 55mpg @ 25,000mls.But these TDI common rail (piezoelectric injectors) motors all freely rev higher without running off puff (boost), especially with variable valve timing (VVT) and variable vain turbo or smaller twin turbo's fitted now...Yeah Petrol motors cant efficiently really compete with Diesel now for the Torque needed to pull the weight of a modern vehicle.!So what if its a second or two difference... the Irony is, that same vehicle fully loaded 1.6-2.0TDI (110-150bhp) will effortlessly pull away from same petrol 2ltr (200.250bhp) when at Gross vehicle weight going up a steep gradient without having too rev the tits off it to maximize power through lack of Torque.. and the Diesel using 1/3 less fuel too do the same work.! Shame Petrol wasn't cheaper though, as I'd like the 1.6 Turbo (200Ps) Astra GTC Limited Edition version (with the Bi-Colour 20" alloys wheels), what fun I'd have then.!
