I vote that the wavy hair comes to an alicorn when they are old enough. It just depends on their age. Also Cadence (definitely spelled wrong) was already getting closer to the body shape of Celestial, and Luna is younger then Celestial so she looks a little different and slightly shorter then her older sister.

Maybe its bc cadence and twillight is still young unlike celestia and luna cuz they are older then them and i think the reason twillight have wavy hair when celestia, luna and cadence gave her their powers is bc she received celestia and luna's power which makes her have wavy hair and probably make her live longer like them

actually he has a few new theories and he no longer supports the idea of artificial and natural alicorns. His latest theory suggests that all a pony needs is magic from all pony tribes. Love your theories though 🥰💕

i think you overlooked mistmane and king sombra here mistmane also has flowy hair and she's not an alicorn nor has alicorn magic. in the FUNdamentals of Magic Celestia explained that magic can manifest in different ways and that flowy manes are one example of it. So ponies who are extremely powerful but aren't necessarily alicorns have flowing manes such as king sombra and mistmane; it's just how their magic decided to manifest in themselves. Old alicorns like Celestia and Luna are powerful by nature and therefore gain flowing hair as they grow since that's what has happened with twilight.

My theory is, that once they reach a certain amount of power they have, their hair naturally waves. Since by the last season Twilight is still growing and that can be seen by the mistakes she also makes throughout it. Some might say when luna came back just a couple episodes later with her wavy hair, it was just return after a thousand years, and her adjustment was her returning to her previous state. aka luna took the time to recover. it would be like she was sick and you have to rest to your usual self, but instead of sick, yknow she was stuck on the moon. So I think when they reach a certain level of power does their hair begin to wave. well thats my theory

you bring up good points. To add a little tho, i think the fresh alicorns grow into the "ruler body" so to speak. i think the entire thing its just an alicorn age thing. you can see Cadence's shape is somewhere in between Twilight and Luna's, as she is at an age somewhere between them. i think the alicorn magic grows with time aswell and eventually needs more of an outlet in order to not build tension inside the pony. And i think the flowy mane is exactly that. just alicorn magic naturally releasing. it could also be just the result of very strong magic and not just alicorn magic, because we see the flowy mane in characters like Mistmane, the pony of shadows, Sombra and Gusty the Great, none of which were alicorns.

I think as they get older they get more magic [ thats why the horn gets bigger to hold more magic] and as they get older the hair waves

Its actually a spell in one episode when rarity wanted to have wavey mane like Celestia and Luna Twilight did say it that it's a spell the rulers cast upon themselves meaning when the princess retired they probably shared the spell with twilight and flurry heart is the only natural alicorn all the others are artificial alicorns like twilight and cadence

This theory makes sense because in the second episode of mlp, when luna got good again, she didnt had wavy hair, because she wasnt a ruler. after celestia offerd her to rule together again we saw her whit the wavy hair.

Well, take a look at this: If Twilight Sparkle is a artificial alicorn, how is her hair mythically wavy like the real Alicorns? (celestia and luna) Well, in the episode the beginning of the end, when Celestia and Luna Tried to attack Cozy Glow but the bell caught their magic, their hair wasn't wavy anymore. If you think about it, their *magic* was gone, making me think that their wavy hair is charged by magic to look so wavy. Just like Twilight. What about the Unicorns? For this answer, alicorns have magic from all 3 tribes. Of course Unicorns wouldn't have flowy manes. What about the Unicorn pillar? (i forgor her name, feel free to reply her name so I can redo the comment) We're now talking of an old unicorn pillar. Her magic is developed. Maybe even when she was a unicorn early on, she was admired that ponys gave a grain of magic to the Unicorn pillar. But isnt that how you become an alicorn? When twilight had her coronation of being a princess (not crowned equestrias ruler) Celestia said this: *" But today, Twilight did something extraordinary. She *created new magic*, Proving without a doubt shes ready to be crowned equestrias new princess."* Unicorns didnt make new magic. Not just new magic, a new spell aswell! Boosted fresh magic from all three tribes is proof her wavy hair can also be applied to Cadence. Hope you found this helpful.

*Something that you've said is here! -> I remember that in "The Ending of the End" Celestia and Luna don't have the "wavy and floating" mane, since their MAGIC is trapped in the Bell. When them and Discord get their magic back, their manes start to wave again, so I guess it's everything about magic* (maybe it's the same for Mistmane idk) Twilight and Cadance are younger than the other two, so yes I think it is about age as well But why, in the last episode of the whole show, does Twilight have wavy mane and she is tall like Celestia? What about Luna and/or Cadance? 1. Luna might've grown up (and became like Celestia) since they still aged but we don't know that; 2. We don't know how Cadance looks like since they don't show her (we just know that Flurry became a ruler); 3. Twilight is older now, but she isn't more than 100 years old, so why does her mane wave like that? Why is she tall? My theory about the 3rd one: Twilight might've got that mane sooner, since probably the two princesses gave her magic (like merging their crowns to make Twilight's), and now Twilight is more powerful than before (during the show you can see that she keeps getting taller and her horn keeps getting bigger) At Cadance & Shining Armor's wedding, when they use their "magic of love" or whatever it is, Cadance's mane waves like Celestia/Luna's (idk what about Shining's mane) (But Chrysalis? She's an alicorn too? Kinda, since in the end she's not even a pony) I kinda have more explanations in mind but I don't want to tell everything x)) One last thing: Celestia and Luna were born alicorns, while Cadance (probably) and Twilight (certainly) weren't.

I disagree. Because mistmane has always had wavy hair, and cadance is also a ruler. Plus, at shining armour and cadances wedding, cadance was shown to have wavy hair when their horns touched.

All this time, I thought it was because of the shampoo that Celestia and Luna used that caused their mane and tail to wave the way it does! Now I'm wondering why does Mistmanes' mane and tail wave the way it does, if it's not because of the shampoo! Oh, Mistmane wasn't an Alicorn, she was a unicorn! Now my brain hurts...make it stop, make it stop! LOL!

i wish when twilight recieved the princess' magic they reverted back to hiw they looked before they became so magical. not meaning they arent alicorns anymore, but think of season 1 episode one luna when she was transformed from nightmare moon. in other episodes we can see she looked how she des currently prior to turning into nightmare moon but once she was defeated and drained of her magic by the elements, she got a near-total reset.

Twilight is more powerful than the other 3 princesses is it bc twilight is not the ruler of Equestria then that doesn't mean that shes the most powerful princess. Twilight when her body is still like the non alicorn ponies with no wavy hair, her age isn't the right time for the wavy hair.
